Fighting for “A God-focused Life”

I re-watched the movie “The Shack” last night and the battle the dad went through to deal
with the loss of his young innocent daughter.
He was in so much pain that it eclipsed God in his life. It took the fight out of his life for himself and the remainder of his family. He was so lost inside that he couldn’t even be there for his other children
They were left to fight their fight without a father to guide, nurture, and protect them from the guilt and depression that was stealing their lives. They forgot that without Jesus there is no remedy for darkness.
You can relate to that in your life, can’t you?
Evil and darkness are simply the absence of God and the light of his word.

Remembering the fight, we’re fighting is a spiritual battle, not one against flesh and blood is critical
How is it that we struggle continually to remember who we are?
We seem to perpetually find ourselves in this street brawl, taking on the spiritual battles of our lives with the effectiveness of a squirt gun.
The enemy of our souls wants us to be distracted…to take our eyes off the true light… the true answer.
He doesn’t need to destroy us with one event but just distract us. For only a minute.
Just dilute us enough to take the edge off the power that is ours to walk in to fight
the battles we are supposed to fight!
Not the sideshow. Not the lies of drama satan raises before us
To distract us and in fact, disarm us

Satan asked Adam and Eve, does God’s word really say that? He institutes doubt and hesitation to question what we know inside is right! And Bam! It’s done. You either do it! Or miss the real reason you were there. God wanted you to step up as the chosen child in his royal priesthood and fight for him. For spouses, kids, marriage, or friends.

When you discover who you really are…
you will walk in the power of his spirit not the power of your will.
When our eyes are on Jesus we can hear what God says.
The truth is… you don’t need to be approved by man when you are called by God.
Know the truth of who you are!
You are not your past failures or The words others are saying about you.

When we are trying to impress those around us
we stop hearing and believing what God’s words say about us over and over. Proverbs 29:25 says “ It is dangerous to be concerned with what others think of you, but if you trust the Lord, you are safe”.
Even Jesus was not accepted in his own town

David felt called by God to stand up to the foul-mouthed Goliath but his brothers in 1 Sam 17 tried to shame him down from his ridiculous calling.

Our current job or our past doesn’t disqualify us from being used by God.
The past is only half the truth…the other half is the cross, yet we keep holding onto guilt and shame when God’s word says to lay them down… Have you heard the lies?
1 Sam 17:30 says David didn’t take on his brother’s words or try to prove something to others and miss God’s calling. How often does Satan win those word battles against us? He pits sister against sister. Friend against a friend when the battle is spiritual… but we don’t see that.

David “claimed his focus” to fight the fight God called him to. Some of us need to “reclaim our focus” and be about “our calling”. It’s not too late. The fight is about spending time with God.
Until you know who He is you can never know who you are!
Keeping our eyes on the prize. Jesus
Stop fighting the battles that are distracting you. Satan has deluded your power to walk in your calling.
Fight to spend time with Jesus in real communities…
With God’s people. When we do we become more than who we are alone
When you know whose you are…
It changes who you are.
