Everybody has a war chest. When I was a young man someone told me that I should write down my victories in Christ. WHY?  there would come days of discouragement and darkness that I would need to remember the victories that God gave me. I wondered today whether anyone ever told that to you. It’s never too late to start

I find it interesting that after liberating the Israelites from Pharaoh, giving them freedom from generations of bondage, even after seeing such incredible demonstrations of God’s power and love. What it must’ve been like to see the devastation of those plagues that were called forth on Egypt. But still, in the face of God’s limitless strength, they were still prone to fear. They still had this tendency to operate from a perspective of weakness. It made me wonder what the church’s filter is like today?

Have you noticed that weakness and fear can be contagious? Do you remember the story when Moses sent Joshua and Caleb into the promised land? The report that came back sent shockwaves through the nation. In Numbers 14:2 all of the children of Israel complained. If only we had died in the land of Egypt. Would it not be better for us to return? What? In verse 5; it said Moses and Aaron fell on their faces!

Joshua and Caleb were the only two who came back with a positive report. They had seen the fortifications,  they toured the land and seen the size of the Canaanite warriors. Yet, they were not afraid. Numbers 14:6-9 they said “do not rebel against the Lord. Do not be afraid of the people of the land. Because We will devour them. Their protection is gone but the Lord is with us. Do not be afraid of them!”

Joshua and Caleb’s focus was on God. Their filter was immersed in the memory of the many many victories that God had given them. That focus powered them to overcome weakness with strength. Their weakness … God’s strength! Noticed that they took a stand against the hostility of their own community. They did not cower in fear for their lives but shouted out and proclaimed the sovereignty of God.  Their filter was immersed in the victories that the Lord had given to them.  Go back to your memories of your victory war chest and start making a list of how many times big or small that the Holy Spirit has delivered you.

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ to strengthen to me.
Isaiah 40:31 for those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength, they shall walk and not faint

Lord help me to not be moved by what I see.  Your word IS the final word.  Strengthen me during these times of trouble.  It is there for the asking.  I am asking Lord!  Whatever is meant for me to endure, strengthen me to endure by your Holy Spirit.  Help me pass on your saving faith to my family.  I will not relent from giving you glory even though I am required to take up my cross to follow you.  I love you lord. The Battle is yours!
