Who are you to Judge and Compare yourself?

Sunday prophecy: “Who are you to carry your Shame? How can you so easily dismiss the price I paid for your shame and your sin and your criticalness of you. You are always comparing yourself to others. Hair weight, money, cars, legs, shape and you forget you became more of a spiritual being when you accepted my spirit. You are a spirit man. Put your life into perspective with your worth and perspective.

Transfer your self-esteem into the person I have called you to be, a holy nation and royal priesthood…The fact that you are perfectly and wonderfully made…that I formed you in your mother’s womb… And that you were perfectly designed for my divine purpose. Why must you see YOU through the eyes of the world? Why not accept my gospel, my prophecies, and accept my spirit eyes?

You’ve chosen to be devalued by you! Who are you to do that? What authority do you have to pronounce judgment on you and others? I called you to a spiritual and heavenly standard
Stop being deceived. Stop substituting my beauty for Satan’s half-truths and outright lies

You’ve allowed the roots of the world to make roots of influence in what you think and see. Repent and turn to me completely. Lay the ax of my word at the foot of this rebelliousness. My word says if your eye is evil tear it out. Be violent with the wages of sin and all its deceptiveness. See me. See my price. See my calling. See with the spirit eyes that I’ve given you so you can rest in the beauty of the Holy Spirit you carry inside”.

Isn’t judging ourselves also a pride issue? – saying we’re worse OR better than they are. So where do we go from here? When we compare ourselves to others, by saying we are less or more spiritual than another person, or we don’t look as good as they do, that’s our pride coming through and it’s a sin. When we act as judges, don’t we take on the role of God, which we are not?

However, the wonderful, joyous truth that we know from scriptures is that if we confess with our mouth, and God forgives! His word today was not one I expected. He was brutally frank! I was encouraged but that encouragement came as a bit of a wake-up call slap in the face! Who are you to carry THAT? (whatever it is) Who are you that you think so highly of yourself that YOU can put YOU down in the face of what God says about you? He is clear and direct! You are Spirit! He said, start looking at your life through the filter I have provide by my debt canceling sacrifice! He basically asked if you are accusing him of making a mistake with you?

But then He says, Jer 1:5 “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” Or a hair dresser, or mechanic, engineer, mother, father…whatever. Psalm 57:2 says, “I cry out to God Most High, to God who fulfills his purpose for me.” This is key in understanding God’s purpose for your life. God has numbered your days and will fulfill every purpose He has for you. Period! (This isn’t a debate… When we argue, when we shame ourselves, compare ourselves we have pridefully taken on the mantle and sovereignty of God, that we don’t possess.

But there is another side. “Self-esteem is a huge issue, especially for our children and young adults. But the other ages are certainly not left out. For young guys, it’s about being cool and accepted. For teen girls, it’s about their shape and being accepted into “The Crowd”. They live in a comparing world. How do we help them? The same way we help ourselves. They must draw their identity from Jesus. Not social posturing or the media to sour their perspective.

That we are made in God’s image – God knew us before time and made us who we are by divine design – He has a plan for us –
Both they and we are worthy of unconditional love –
We can find a haven of acceptance among other believers –

We parents have the privilege of emphasizing these truths that model true acceptance. Emotions don’t catch up very easily to the FACTS. God’s word. The words spoken here and in God’s scriptures to us provide lasting purpose and clear direction. Regardless of our age, we are called to see what He sees and not allow ourselves to be sabotaged by the world’s distorted view of acceptance.

Lord forgive me for judging myself and others. Help me repent and refocus who I am through your eyes of love and acceptance. Lord, I want to be more like you.
