A Call for Help. Transparency and Humility before God.
I have often talked to you about transparency and using the community around you for support and prayer. It requires some courage and admission that wherever we may be in our maturity with the Lord, no one is exempt from Satan’s attacks to derail us and get us off the playing field and back into the stands watching the game vs being in it to win.
There are no accidental saints and no accidental warriors for Christ. The Lord orchestrates what He will for his glory and our ultimate good. We can sit in a pity box, feeling sorry for ourselves, or just lie in a stupor, too confused and or proud to ask for help.
I am certain I am not the only person going through this. I am positive that our test becomes our testimony and that the Holy Spirit is talking to us all the time. I believe He is talking right now to me and to a good number of you, too. I believe there is a message that He wants to be heard, and as I was writing in my journal this morning, just pouring myself out to the Lord, I found a message I felt was from God. As I started drilling down on how I have been feeling since I lost my 100-year-old mom last month,
I haven’t liked how I have been feeling, but I just haven’t been able to shake it. I felt this went beyond mourning to an outright attack. I didn’t realize it till later in the day that He was talking to me, as He talks to so many of us…through our circumstances that too often are written off as serendipitous or random. They are not! He wanted me to stop feeling sorry for myself. Meaning, stop allowing Satan to continue to bring this cloud, this spirit of confusion and doubt, into my mind and my thoughts, filtering down to a paralysis within me. He wanted me to go on the attack. To call in the army of worshipers around me and take authority in the spirit. In fact, as I am writing this to you, he is forging in me how to get on the offensive.
“Lord, help me see past this fog of negativity, doubt, and, to some degree, fear of tomorrow. And I hear this quiet voice inside: “Focus on Me… Focus on the now”. Not tomorrow; that has enough worries of its own. Rest and be present in the moment you are in.
Speak life, peace, and confidence in the one who has you covered!
Stop being lulled into the sleepwalking, self-defeating types of feeling and thinking. And instead, speak my words of life. Speak my promises of being present with you now. If I am for you, who can be against you? Take authority over your thinking and emotions. the weapons of our warfare, 2 Corinthians 10:4, “are not of the flesh but of the Spirit”. God is a spirit, Satan is a Spirit, you cannot fight this fight in the will of your flesh. So, you fight a spiritual war with spiritual weapons. Eph 6:10
I felt I heard these words; Whose truth are you holding to and reacting to? It isn’t even true at all! They are fears, projections of doubt, and potential failure vs the litany of promises I have laid out for you. Joshua said, “For me and my house, we will serve the Lord”. I thought, what about me? My thoughts, even what I’m hoping and dreaming for.. So, are my thoughts and aspirations serving God? Fear isn’t of God. It doesn’t serve God; it is a lie of the enemy to slow us down, to divert the peace of God into a premonition of what might or could happen. He wants to paralyze us. He gets us so caught up in ourselves that we forget what God says. Forget that he has given us… family and community to stand with us, so we can stand! vs wallowing along in a funk of worry, anxiety, and despair about the future.
How many times must we visit that slum to remind ourselves that it’s the wrong way?
Our wrong thinking often paralyzes us into believing a lie. We are not alone, we do not live in the future, we are in this moment, but sometimes we need help to walk the path Jesus walked. We need to pray and ask the Holy Spirit to empower us to stand. We need to reach out to community, family, and friends to stand with us… but that requires vulnerability and transparency, things that we conveniently like to throw out and are way too slow to implement. Ask someone to pray with you. Why? Because when two or more are gathered, He is in their midst. It means I will be accountable for these negative feelings and emotions by telling them to someone and asking them if I could be accountable to them to break their power over me and to join with me, put a hedge of protection around me. But I am certain as I write these words that I am not the only one in torment and attack by Satan. So, I am putting this out to all of you. Pray with me. Let me know if you are in the same battle as I, so we can pray with you too.
Worship is a sure response to God’s Promises.
Let me encourage each of you as I do so to myself. Worship is a weapon to come against spiritual attacks by using the name of Jesus, keeping a heart tuned into His Holy Scriptures, singing them, praying the scriptures out loud, and most of all, remembering and believing who has the ultimate power and authority. We have to remember again and again not so much who we are but Whose We Are! To walk in that power and assuredness.
In 2 Chronicles 20:19: God told Jehosophat to “Put the Worshippers out front as they went into battle and trust God to give the victory” They didn’t wait until after the victory to praise God, they were sent out by the King before the battle…before the warriors, trust in the word God gave them that HE would be their deliver!
The Lesson: Keep Focusing on God.
King Jehoshaphat declared, “We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.” Have you ever felt that way? Have you ever felt weak at the knees, even knowing we need to take it to God and keep our focus on Him, but somehow don’t? We certainly do not have this Warrior Attitude, clenching the fist of our spirits and say…I’m Done! And grab ahold of a scripture: “No weapon formed against me shall prosper!” And say it with faith that God is more than able to perform His word. That His word can never return void. Are you hearing me? Because I am speaking to myself as much as to you.
Whatever mountain you are facing. Change your attitude. Change your perspective.
God our Father cannot be stopped. He sent the Holy Spirit to abide in us forever. To give us strength, courage, wisdom, and everything we need. The King, in his great distress, turned toward God. He called the people to pray around him and demonstrated the collective power of prayer, faith, and the power of worship.
The Power of the Praise turned the enemy against themselves and Israel never had to fight at all. Turn you mountain over to God. When you trust in Him to do that you can walk in the peace of that truth.
We are in Lent. We need to be offering up to Jesus, every day, the Sacrifice of Praise. What little thing will you give up each day as your Sacrifice of Praise…to keep you focused on the Father… bolstering your faith that His word is the final word and we can stand on it to His glory and our good.
