So you sometimes feel you are in this season where everything is going wrong?  Have you ever thought you were under attack?

Sunday’s prophecy –Satan is on the warpath

“Satan is on the warpath – anger isn’t enough to change his direction. Prayer might not be making an immediate dent, so start a fast… intercede. Do more than pray. Become a warrior for me in the spirit. You are not fighting against the resistance of flesh and blood, you must enter into a spiritual battle. Lift up the shield of faith for them, take up the sword of the spirit for them, fight the fight of Ephesians 6   Don’t stop. Don’t give up. Persevere and become my intercessors for their freedom. They have become distracted.  They are looking at the counterfeits of too many responsibilities and have let their faith foundation slip. Stand in the gap for them. Stand for those who cannot stand for themselves”.

What is a prayer warrior?  What is an Intercessor?   How can I be those things when I have trouble praying much at all?  James 1:2-4: says “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,
whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing
of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you
may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
That is not much comfort when we feel we are walking through the valley of the shadow of death.  But God…has a plan for you…and me.  He wants to grow us up in Him.  He doesn’t want us to stay self-absorbed or stagnant and so testing will come to teach us all these things.   Our children struggled through many seasons when we raised them.  There were lessons and consequences that we determined were best for them…and they hurt us back then.
But they were an instrument of our growth because we loved them.

2 Corinthians 12:9 says: “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for MY Power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”  His encouraging word today is also a command.  “Do more than Pray…Become a warrior in the Spirit for me!”  He is again and again, calling our attention to the spiritual war we are in.  He directs us to our defense and our weapons.  I always felt that I would continue to experience the same mistakes over and over again.  The same hurts from the same errors over and over until I learned what The Holy Spirit wanted me to learn.  I think I still believe that. I also believe that until people are in enough pain they won’t make a change”.

According to GotQuestions.org, prayer warriors have a heart for God, people, prayer, and Christ’s church. They pray continually, trusting that God will answer their prayers in his own time and will. They also learn to remove obstacles to prayer and not grieve the Spirit of God.

Here are some other ways that prayer warriors may differ from others:

  • They pay special attention to God’s promises
  • Prayer warriors cling to God’s words and patiently persist in prayer, believing that his promises give them confidence and urgency.
  • They Intercede for others.  I believe they are indeed Spiritual Prayer warriors, who are given a spiritual gift by the Holy Spirit, interceding for the welfare of others and specific ministries.
    –  they are broken and humble men and women of God.
    –  They pray more for others’ benefit than they do their own.
  • Intercessors are marked by God  (Eze 9: 1-5)

Prayer warriors grow into Intercessors and they understand that they are in a spiritual battle with Satan, so they pray for their own spiritual well-being to maintain their strength and focus when praying for others. Ask God for the heart to pray more.  If you grow in prayer and faith only 10% a year…in three years you will be a completely different person.  Once you gain this initial momentum in the spirit it starts to grow like a snowball running downhill.
Press in… Be intentional every day…even if it’s only a little.
God will honor that!
Don’t take this season where everything is seemingly going wrong, laying down.  Fight back!  Take God at his word.  Fight in the Spirit.  His Way.  Join with a friend.  Join a group and start growing your spiritual tribe to do battle…God’s way.

Psalm 34:17-19: “The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all.”

He never created us to stand alone.
