Drop whatever weight is on your back…And Give it to God!
I talked to someone I just met in our Following Jesus Class on Thursday night 7pm.
(Please join us if you can. Here is the link.)
https://meet.google.com/pbr-jvhx-ykm
and we spent some private time talking after everyone had left our Goggle Meet online meeting.
My new friend was struggling financially. They had lost two different positions
they both had, through no fault of their own. They had tried to start a house cleaning, apartment preparing business and they were taken advantage of. He was just thankful he had someone
who listened to him. My heart went out to him because I know what it’s like to be on your last leg.
To wonder what you can sell to make it for the next week.
It is disheartening. He talked about not hearing anything from God and
being disheartened and wondering if his prayers really mattered to God.
But he said they had held fast. They have continued to hold to their faith.
They joined our Following Jesus class to learn more about God, and perhaps receive some encouragement and even faith to continue on fighting the good fight. I hope you can feel their pain.
Pray for them!! I pray you can remember what a hopeless feeling that is when you are the head of your family and your entire family is relying on you for support, direction, courage and the example of how you navigate the impossible. Where is God in your rhetoric?. How is God coming out of your mouth. Jobs wife told him after all of his children and finances were destroyed to curse God and die!
He would not!
I have a strong sense that my new friend is not the only one facing, what appears to be an unmovable object, a bottomless pit with no apparent way to cross it.
John 16:33—I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.
If you have come to the point of giving up and you are still clinging to a smidgen of faith. Then there is still hope for you. 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 says—We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed”. I hope you will keep repeating that declaration and promise until it permanently enchrined in your heart and head! The definition of faith – The ASSURANCE of things hoped for… AND the EVIDENCE of things not yet seen. If we can see it when we pray for it…then it requires no faith! We need to believe Gods word in the face of darkness.
My wife had surgery on Friday for a very painful torn tendon on her right hip. They made a five inch incision and reattached the tendon with screws. I sat in recovery when they rolled her in and even then…she was crying in pain. I thought how can that be? She is still groggy from anesthesia and she is hurting? And they gave her another IV for pain and while we sat there for 40 mins as she recovered, they gave her two more doses. And honestly, I didn’t understand. I was angry and frustrated as I prayed and held her hand. When we were able to read our phones she received this text from an intercessor friend of ours. I pray it encourages you as much as it did us.
Give it to God
Just a reminder that whatever you have in front of you…
You’re more than capable of getting past it.
It may be difficult.
It may be something you don’t want to deal with.
It may be something you didn’t choose.
But, you have help.
(Isaiah 41:10)
You’re never on your own.
You’re never alone.
You have help from your Heavenly Father, always.
It’s not a, maybe this time…
It’s a promise, every time.
(Hebrews 13:5-6)
So, when you’re feeling burdened, stressed, or uncertain about something…
Give it to God.
Don’t walk with the weight of it.
You’ll wear yourself out.
He wants you to cast your cares on Him.
He cares about you.
(1 Peter 5:7)
That doesn’t mean everything is instantly easy.
But, it’s an act that elevates your trust.
It puts God in His rightful place…
At the center of your life.
It reminds you that God’s way…
Is the best way.
It releases, pressure.
It provides, peace
So, drop whatever weight is on your back.
It’s not an act of ignoring it.
It’s an act of giving it.
You’re giving it to God.
He’ll carry it.
He’ll not only carry it…
He’ll make a way through it…
You can be sure of it.
So, whatever’s in front of you…
Do your best with it, while you trust God with it. That’s giving it to God. You’ll find freedom from the weight of it.
That’s what God wants for you.
Take a deep breath, and say…
“God, I give it to you!” 😘
Isaiah 41:10—So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Hebrews 13:5-6. 5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said “Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you.”[a] 6 So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”[b]
1 Peter 5:7 says “Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you”.
I understand as a husband, dad and provider the weight of that responsibility. But giving our cares to God is also a command to humble ourselves before God, to trust in God to exalt us, and stop seeking our own glory of being in control… Being able to see the end game. It also encourages people who are struggling to submit to Gods authority, serving without recognition, or caring for others who are not valued in society. It takes courage and humility to Let Go and Let God. Ask God for more faith to believe His word. To believe His promises. I promise it will be ok. Do not give up. Call someone. If you dont have anyone…call me! He will come through.! Keep believing. Keep trusting Him…
Not what you may be seeing!
