In a world of chaos, self-exaltation and bravado over the latest and greatest of new discoveries or insights in science…There is above it at all… GOD! We serve a God in which there’s no hypocrisy and his knowledge and wisdom are unsurpassed. I think the truth is we know that but we don’t live that! WHY?
The Queen of Sheba was stunned by the wisdom of Solomon. 1 Kings 10 -5 “he took her breath away”. In Matthew 12:42 it says, ‘she came from the ends of the earth… to hear the wisdom of Solomon’ but behold someone greater than Solomon is here. Jesus!
As a youth, the elders in the temple marveled. The decisive sentence that ended all conversation was in Matthew 22:45. “If David then calls him Lord, how is he his son”. Matthew 22:46 “and no one was able to answer a word from that day”.
His knowledge and wisdom were unsurpassed. We trust in our self-help books, seminar speakers, and wise counselors who we trust. But truly they see through a glass dimly. We trust in what little we think we know. And we too often walk a path of mediocrity in both our faith and in the depth of our faith in God’s word. Yet we are Christians. Certainly, we/they are not wiser than Solomon and someone infinitely wiser than he is here. John 2:24-25 Paul paid tribute to his vast knowledge, “He knew all people and needed no one to bear witness about man, for he himself knew what was in man”. He knows our thoughts, he knows you’re feelings Matthew 9:4
In Acts 1:20 “ you Lord, know the hearts of all.” Nothing perplexes Jesus. He knows every notion of every mind. He knows what you will do and what will happen tomorrow and in 40 years… it is all part of Jesus’ divine majesty.
John 6:64 John 13:19 “I am telling you now.. that when it takes place you may believe that “I AM”. Meaning he is the son of God “I AM” spoken of in Exodus 3:14
Jesus knowing everything…
is the unqualified statement of John’s Gospel.
Bottom line: all knowledge and all reality outside of Jesus is parochial compared to the infinite reality that God is!
Even if we are impressed with the scholars among us. Let us not play the fool by trumpeting the wonder of tiny chirps… while ignoring the thunderclap of Christ Omniscience! Jesus and his words alone are worthy of our trust and confidence. You can show us the father.
Matthew 11:27 He gives irresistible wisdom Luke 21:15 and then John 8:16 not one of his judgments is ever mistaken.
Trust him! Admire Him! Follow Him. Seek Him while there is still time!
Colossians 2:3. “For in Him are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge”.
To rely on God’s wisdom in such a time as this you must lean ii! Fall on your knees. Seek His face like never before. His promise is true… He will meet you there!
