Feedback. I wanted to ask each of you personally for feedback on the devotionals I have been sending. I want to stay relevant. It’s important that I hear from God to lead me in these writings and I would love your feedback, suggestions, corrections, whatever would make this work, that you share in, more relevant or impactful. The format and the email changed in the last month and I would love to know what it looks like to you. Thanks for taking the time.
How to Focus Your Life
How do you get ready for the things that test you? How do you finish well and become that role model?
How do you focus your life?
1 Corinthians 9:25 “Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.” so what is it that I can do? What do I contribute? There must be some contribution that I can make because no one wins a Super Bowl or a gold medal without contributing.
1 Timothy 4:7-8 “Have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths. Rather train yourself for godliness; 8 for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.”
You devote your life to that moment. What is THAT moment? Let me answer a question with a question. How do you focus your life? … It should be a simple answer…GOD
Ephesians 1:4 “For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love.”
So you see, long before he laid down earths foundation, He had us in mind, had settled on us… as the focus of His love. Can I get an AMEN!
GOD. Everything else is a distraction! He knows your days. Secret life. And He is not surprised or shocked. Simply put, He made you. He knows you. He still loves you. He has a plan for you.
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to agree that life is a whirlpool of pressure. It breeds worry stress, anxiety, and fear. Here are three everyday habits that will keep your focused on God
1 Tell God how great he is. Yes, He knows it, but you need to say it out loud, so you remember it. Daniel 9:4 “And I prayed unto the Lord my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments” Read also; Romans 5:8
Isn’t it amazing that He loves you in the mess that you’re in? In the confusion you’re in today without your regular church and your regular support system. God wants you to praise him through it all, so you don’t get caught up in the idols and the everyday distractions.
HE will consume your fears and your foes!
Matthew 6:6 says it best. “But when you pray, go into your room, close the door, and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you”.
2. Talk to GOD about what you need. Champions need a prayer habit not a heavenly slot machine. (Think about that.)
Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Sounds like a great insurance policy, doesn’t it?
Isn’t it amazing that 87% of Americans believe God answers prayer
but only 25% pray!
Talk to him about what you really care about. Talk to him first. Talk to him specifically. Matthew 7:7
3. Trust God and take the next step. Proverbs 3:5-6 One of my favorite scriptures; “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. [6] In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Philippians 3:13-14 “. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14. I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus”
Yes,.. hell is against you. But all the heavenly angels are cheering you on with songs of deliverance.
Remember that your greatest cheerleader is Christ himself
