Fearlessly Courageous

Do you ever argue with yourself? You should! Are you as high on yourself as God is high on you? I mean right now? Do you feel like you are on top of your life spiritually…eternally or might you be down in the mouth a little bit. You do know that if we are not passing out words of encouragement to ourselves and others we are going in the wrong direction. There is no middle ground in living and believing.
Have you ever looked at the children of the elite and wondered what it was like to want for nothing? Just ask Daddy, and you have a new car. You travel abroad. You don’t have to work, unless you want to. Of course in the center of all of this is a small pity party of – “It would be nice to have parents leaving me all I need to live out life on my terms”.
How far does that tongue wage when it comes to you talking about you…or your career…or your marriage…or your children? What exactly is coming out of your mouth? Do I need to convince you that your words have power?
Then I think of what God says about His kids.
2 Corinthians 6:18 (NIV) And, “I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.” In this child of God scripture verse, God renews His promise to us that He will always see us as His children. As His children, we are given the gifts of His limitless mercy, grace and love” When was the last time you meditated on that passage? On your heritage? How is it we forget that we are CALLED to accept Him…Father God…as Our Father. He spoke those words… He wants your identity to be in Him. He has given you gifts more precious that gold and silver. Gifts of mercy, grace and love by your Father. Would you consider that you are valuable to God as a son and daughter? You ARE a child of God! Loved limitlessly by God, to the point he has numbered the hairs on your head.
Romans 8: 15 16 Rather the spirit you receive brought about your adoption to sonship. As a child of God, the Holy Spirit enters us and renews our souls in baptism. Our soul is what we will take to meet God in heaven.
Were you ever called names when you were little or even as an adult someone characterized you as something less than flattering? It hurt and you carried it for some time. In Eph 1 God calls you Blessed. Who are you to say less of yourself or your abilities? Why aren’t you arguing by quoting scripture about who you are to God vs how you’re feeling this week or this month? (How often do we peg that to money or a sour relationship issue?)
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.” -Ephesians 1:3 I know that words are thrown around so much. Heck, it’s even on the wall in my home. Blessed means to speak well of. Even ourselves.
God says you are blameless. “For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.” -Ephesians 1:4 We have no legitimate reason to talk trash about ourselves or our situation. Sure, we all sin and are at fault but God says we are now blameless in his sight. And what other sight or opinion is there?
God says you’re redeemed. “In him, we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace…” – Ephesians 1:7
Are you a child of God?
If so, isn’t it past time to start talking like one and trashing these labels we keep attaching to ourselves and our endeavors? God has applied labels to His Children
but don’t apply to those who are not his. “Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” -John 1:12
We all know we are continually growing in God. Isn’t it time that we put a lid on the negativity
of our mouths? Our words? Are you blessed, blameless and redeemed, chosen, adopted?
Isn’t it time we grow up enough to accept the labels God has for us?
Which of these labels mean the most to you today?
I would love to hear your thoughts on that.
