The Power of Waiting When You Have No Map Part II
Prayer When Words Are All You Have Left

There are seasons when prayer feels powerful…
and seasons when prayer feels like the last thin thread you’re holding onto.

You sit down to pray and realize you don’t have language for what’s happening inside you. The faith you normally speak with feels muted. The urgency is there, but the words are not. And if we’re honest, that can make us wonder if our prayers even count anymore.

Scripture answers that fear clearly.  Romans 8:26 says,

“Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.”

Notice what the verse does not say.
It does not say the Spirit helps us once we find the right words.
It does not say He waits until our faith sounds strong again.

It says He helps us in our weakness.

Prayer is not a performance.
It is presence.

Psalm 34:17 reminds us,
“When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.”

Sometimes that cry is articulate.
Sometimes it’s messy.
Sometimes it’s nothing more than, “God, I don’t know how much longer I can do this.”

And heaven hears every version. (I am so thankful for that!)

We tend to measure prayer by how it feels. God measures prayer by faithfulness…by showing up, even when you feel empty. Even when your motives are mixed. Even when what you want is relief more than revelation.

God is not offended by honest desperation.
He is drawn to it because he is a Father and we are his children.

Revelation 5:8 gives us a picture we don’t often think about:
“The prayers of the saints” are described as “golden bowls full of incense before the throne.”

Your prayers are not discarded because they were whispered.
They are not ignored because they were tear-soaked.
They are not delayed because you didn’t feel powerful when you prayed them.

They are kept.

You may feel like nothing is happening when you pray. But prayer moves things you cannot see.
You may be kneeling in your bedroom, but heaven is responding.
You may be driving with tears on your face, but chains are breaking in the unseen places.
He is preparing people, places, and opportunities you can’t see.  In His Time!  Remember that…
Don’t feel like you need to push open doors and do God’s work.
We are not God.  We know what happened with Ismeal.

You don’t have to feel strong for prayer to be effective.
You just have to be willing to pray.  Willing to kneel.  Willing to give whatever it is you have left!

And here is the truth we must not lose sight of:
You are not in control—but God is.

Prayer is how we hand the weight back to Him. I pray your listening.

So what might I encourage you with?  Charge!

So today, don’t wait until your faith feels polished.
Don’t wait until your words feel confident.
Don’t wait until your heart feels settled.

Pray now.

Pray tired.
Pray honest.
Pray broken if you must.

Because when you pray…even in weakness
the Spirit intercedes,
heaven listens,
and God moves.

And the God who is in control
has never once failed
to answer the prayers
of His waiting and EXPECTANT children.

In Jesus Name!
