Why do we find calm in the deeper waters of God’s mercy and grace?
Sunday’s Prophecy.
The Days ahead are full of mercy and grace.
Walk with me –
Press into the deeper waters. Do not be content with the shoreline.
The riches of my presence and of my Grace are in deep waters.
Spend time with me.
I will open your eyes to new and fresh ways of living for me –
of loving for me.
Know me – read my word.
Embrace the joy in living for me. Enter into my presence this week.
Open your mind. Take me in.
Open your heart – every closet –
Let me lead you to deeper waters.
Move into the deeper waters to need me more?”
I always love His encouraging words. They ask me to think a little deeper. To put my focus on Him. His word always points me to Our Father who art in heaven. I envision Him taking my hand and walking along a beach. I feel secure when my hand is in His. He encourages me to not be satisfied in the ankle-deep waters of the shoreline but to press out to the deeper waters. It is a completely different sensation, a different feeling to feel the waves lapping at your legs, and then your chest as you lift on your tip toes until you need to swim or lay back and float and feel the rolling of the waves as you are lifted over each one.
Psalm 23:2-3: “He leads me beside still waters; he restores my soul.” This scripture illustrates the image of peaceful waters, symbolizing God’s calm assurance, guidance, and restoration. When we surrender ourselves to His mercy and grace, He leads us to a place of rest and spiritual rejuvenation. They are more profound as we go deeper.
I never seem as heavy in thought when I am in that state or that place. I feel this sense of calm and comfort that I am so small…that my problems seem so much more minuscule as I see the vastness of God’s ocean. I can see more clearly that there is a much bigger picture. A bigger plan…and it gives me hope. It’s almost like I can feel the mercy and grace of God washing over me with each incoming wave.
Isaiah 40:31: “But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” God continues to remind us that His mercy and grace empower us to overcome weariness, doubt, and procrastination and find strength in Him. As we immerse ourselves in His presence, we find renewal and endurance for life’s challenges.
2 Corinthians 12:9 “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ I certainly have no trouble with admitting my weaknesses. “Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” This verse encapsulates the idea that in our moments of vulnerability and weakness, God’s mercy and grace sustain us. It is through His grace that we find strength and resilience, even in our most challenging times.
So exactly how big is this stronghold of yours? How high a mountain has been stealing your joy. Or has it been a hundred little things? What is it you have resisted giving to God almighty? Sometimes we are not so afraid of utter destruction by our troubles, but we are certainly NOT stepping into God’s holy waters of Grace, Mercy, and the abiding strength that comes with trusting Him either.
Romans 8:38-39 “For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” His words are either true or not. He is either God or a bald-faced liar. Here it states, God’s mercy and grace are everlasting and all-encompassing. It provides the assurance that nothing in this world can separate us from His love…where else can you find this profound sense of peace and security?
Each of these scriptures offers a profound truth revealed in scripture. We get to choose what to believe. We choose to receive God’s mercy that gives us a peace, that extends beyond our shortcomings and failures. His Grace IS sufficient! His words are an anchor when the storms are at their worst…even when we created the storm! The deeper waters of His truth, bring greater measures of his peace…with each fathom in His sea of sovereignty, we can rest and receive restoration and strength for the new day as we take his hand… All of this, He has given to His children so we might discover the Joy of His Calling and the peace that surpasses all human logic and understanding.
Step into the deeper waters this week.
Be intentional!
