Will your current foundation allow you to achieve what God Wants You to Become this Year?

What foundation for Godliness did you lay this past year?  Really?  Don’t you think it’s imperative that we inventory the year past and purpose to lay the best Godly foundation that will honor God going forward?  I want to take you through some practical steps to lay the best foundation in the New Year

1.           Anchor Your Vision in Scripture- 1st Let’s Define Your Theme for the Year and get you thinking about what you believe your year WILL look like by faith.

“Was God first in my life last year?”

“What kind of foundation did I lay this last year?” 
(Be specific, what were your goals and did you achieve them?)

“What values did I embody?”

Now that we are heaven focused, let’s choose a guiding verse for the New Year
that reflects your context of putting God first.

Example: Living an extraordinary life:  Ephesians 3:20: “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.”   Being a light in the world,  Matthew 5:16: “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
That means laying a Godly foundation that will withstand the storms of life.

2.   Pray and Seek Guidance as you reflect on this prophetic endeavor.

Spend time in prayer, asking the Holy Spirit to reveal the context He wants you to embody by the end of 2026. Let’s prophesy what good and Godly things you will achieve in 2026.

 This exercise, has you imagining yourself standing on the final day of 2026. I want you to create a Godly context in your life, detailing the main goals you achieved.  In effect, prophesying your future.

3.    Let’s Declare Your Context as a Kingdom Assignment.  (Are you committed?)

How do we do this?  Speak as a Historian from the Future – 12 30 2026
This may be your most challenging test in moving forward yet.
Write this letter in the Third Person
A Historian Example:

“In 2026, I lived as a vessel of God’s grace, shining His love and serving His purposes in every area of life.” Ephesians 3:20  “I offer myself to you as an empty vessel to be filled by you and poured out so others may be filled by you too”.

“In 2026, [Your Name] achieved remarkable growth across all dimensions of life. They prioritized God and made his purpose for their life the filter they used to determine their direction and daily walk. They succeeded in improving their health and fitness by exercising consistently, resulting in improved energy and a 10-pound weight loss. Their commitment to personal development led them to complete two online courses and learn public speaking. Professionally, they exceeded sales goals and strengthened their leadership skills. Spiritually, they deepened their faith through daily devotions and regular fellowship with their church community.”

Choose your own Key Categories – Here are some examples of writing about you in the third person. 
I have included some historical suggestions to let you get the feel.

  1. Health/Fitness/Well-being

Describe specific outcomes you will achieve in 2026. E.g., “Ran a 5K in June and established a sustainable meal plan.”

Scriptural Lens: View your body as God’s temple. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20: “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies.”

Historian example:

“Through discipline and gratitude, they honored God by caring for their body, exercising regularly, and prioritizing rest and nutrition, and lost 10 pounds.”

Growth/Development: Highlight learning or skills gained.

      Using a Scriptural Lens: Seek wisdom and transformation in Christ.

Romans 12:2: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

Historian example:

“They grew in wisdom and understanding, attended a small group of other like-minded Christians, completed a Bible study on leadership, and faithfully practiced discernment in decisions. They completed a Dale Carnegie course”

3. Work/Career: Quantify achievements or milestones. “Work as unto the Lord.”

Scriptural Lens: Work as unto the Lord.  Colossians 3:23: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.”

Historian example:

“In their career, they exemplified integrity, exceeded targets by 10%, received the promotion they had aspired to, and stewarded resources faithfully to bless others.”

Here are some general options for you to choose from or choose your own.

  • Family/Home: Note relational improvements or projects completed.
  • Fun: Recall joyful moments or hobbies pursued.
  • Spirituality: Summarize deepened practices or insights. Sought God’s presence daily. Psalm 1:2-3: “But whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night.”

Historian Example
“They grew closer to God, spending 20 minutes daily in prayer, Scripture, meditation, and worship.” They tested each goal with Scripture and asked: 
               Does this align with God’s purpose for my life? How does this goal further His kingdom?

  • Church/Community/Relationships: Celebrate connections strengthened.
  • Finance/Legal: Detail financial goals met, or estate plans completed.

                                                       Reflect on your Lessons Learned

Include a statement like: “This year taught them resilience in the face of challenges (list them) and the value of consistent small steps toward big goals.”

Now put all these different segments together for your letter, written in the the third person. Proof it, approve of it, or change it, but buy into it. Have faith for those goals and dreams and ask God to bless them. By casting your vision backward and anchoring it in concrete goals, measurable outcomes, and actionable structures, you create a clear and inspiring roadmap. This method not only keeps you focused but ensures you’re actively shaping the life you desire every step of the way. This action is indeed a celebration of what you will accomplish in the New Year and the New You.
