Who were the 3 Wise Men in your life?
Christmas is past us. The presents have mostly been delivered. But I want to dig a little deeper and take a look at the three “gifts” that you have gotten over the years from friends or family members – not the kind you can unwrap, but the kind that has contributed to the person you are today. Perhaps you inherited the gift of being a great conversationalist from your chatty dad. Or maybe you had an experience with a friend that gave you the gift of compassion. A tough experience may have even given you the gift of perseverance. Perhaps it was a pastor or friend who inspired you to press through a hard matter in a better way. You may have been blessed by one of your children by something they did that really touched you and changed your filter. Would you take a minute and list who they were and what you learned? “Fools think their own way is right, but the wise listen to others”. Proverbs 12:15
Holiday and birthday presents come and go, but the most important gifts we receive from people are the personal qualities and experiences that make us who we are. By making a list that celebrates those gifts, we recognize those people and their meaning in our lives – as well as what makes us special.
Who were those 3 wise people for you in these last few years? You may have more than three and if so you are truly blessed. Write their names down and write down the gift you received from their hands even though they might not know it.
1 Thessalonians 5:12 Dear brothers and sisters, honor those who are your leaders in the Lord’s work. They work hard among you and give you spiritual guidance.
I would encourage you to do something extraordinary! Write a thank you card/note to each of these people. There is something about receiving a handwritten card. Give them a blessing of thanksgiving. Let them know the difference they made in your life during that time and how that gift has changed you or how you have added a new piece of Grace to your walk, and list them. You can be more general if you are most comfortable that way. But reach out and be a blessing to them.
On Febr 5th our Courageous Men’s Group will meet at the LOL campus, 7 PM, to plan out the new year before us. The next 12 months. We will talk about your dreams or get you started dreaming. We will discuss your family plans, work plans, God plans, health plans… things that you would like to carve out some time to grow towards. While things are a little slower now, why don’t you give some thoughts about evaluating your past year? How has it gone? What went well? What needs duplication and what needs to be improved…or what needs to be removed? If we can stop and just pray about what God wants us to see in our past year, we can do two things. We can close out 2023 emotionally, mentally, and spiritually as we learn what God would have us to learn and then move forward with the new plans, He has for us to accomplish. If you don’t have a wise man, come see me on the 5th
and I will introduce a couple to you. Blessings. Dennis
