America, As in the Days of Noah and Lot: A Call to Righteousness

The world today bears an unsettling resemblance to the days of Noah and Lot. Immorality is rampant, righteousness is mocked, and evil is celebrated. But what does God’s Word tell us about living in such times? Are these signs that we are approaching the end? Let’s examine Scripture and take a hard look at our lives in light of God’s call to steadfastness and righteousness.

The State of Our World: A Prophetic Parallel

There was a time when children could play outside without fear. Do you remember? Today, parents must guard them like hawks against predators, online dangers, and a culture that seeks to corrupt innocence. The Bible warned of such days:

Luke 17:27-36 reminds us of the parallels between our time and the days of Noah and Lot. In both cases, people ignored God’s warnings, living as if judgment would never come. They were consumed by their own desires, refusing to heed the truth. And then, suddenly, God removed the righteous, and judgment fell.

A Time of Moral Collapse

Genesis 6:9-13 describes a world filled with corruption and violence, one that grieved the heart of God. Does that sound familiar?

“Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight and was full of violence. God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways.”  “I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth.  Genesis 6:11-12)

Our world is spiraling into similar lawlessness—violence, immorality, and rejection of God’s authority. Society calls evil good and good evil, just as it did before God’s judgment in the past. But God sees it all, and He will not be mocked.

Immorality is a cancer that affects everything. It is not just about sex.  It affects our attitudes, values, money, relationships…everything. A moral society protects the family and the nation, or they used to…they are supposed to. Its absence destroys people and nations. God hates it, and we should too.

The Consequences of Ignoring God

God did not spare the angels who sinned. He did not spare the ancient world but saved only Noah, a preacher of righteousness. He turned Sodom and Gomorrah to ashes, making them an example for all who live ungodly lives. (2 Peter 2:4-10)

Those societies were destroyed because they embraced sin and refused to repent. Today, we see the same spirit at work:  And it is a Spirit!

  • People love themselves more than God.
  • They chase after wealth, power, and pleasure without regard for righteousness.
  • Even within the church, many claim faith and stand on a simple prayer they prayed, but they do not change; they deny its power by continuing in sin.

Paul warned Timothy of this:

“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy… having a form of godliness but denying its power.” (2 Timothy 3:1-5)

Does this not describe our generation?

The Call to Righteousness

This message is not meant to spread guilt but to bring conviction. Easter is approaching—a time when we remember Christ’s sacrifice and resurrection. But how often do we use this season to examine ourselves?

  • Have we conformed to the world? Do we have the time to assess our spiritual condition?
  • Are we leading our families in righteousness?  Really leading.
  • Can those around us see Christ through our lives?

Jesus calls us to be the light on a hill, the salt of the earth. This is not the time to be lukewarm. It is time to take a stand.

Where Do You Stand?

The days of Noah and Lot are here again. I pray you are listening.
The question is: Where do we stand?
Will we be among those who live in righteousness and are rescued, or among those who ignore the warnings and face judgment?

God is calling His people to rise up, to realign our hearts with His purposes, and to intercede for our families, our churches, and our nation. It is not business as usual. It is time to get real.

Let us repent, stand firm in righteousness, be that light,  be that voice, and be faithful until the end.  As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
