“A Living Thank You: Becoming the Harvest They Prayed For” Part 2
(Note: For some reason Monday’s part 1 didn’t seem to come through to everyone.)
I have included a link below. My apologies.

Jesus said in John 15:8, “This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit.”
Fruit is the evidence that something was planted well.
So the question becomes: what are you doing with what they gave you?

Paul speaks to this in 2 Timothy 2:2: “What you have heard from me… entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.” That’s four generations in one verse. That’s legacy.

Did you catch 4 generations?  Let me help you see the impact, that grew Christianity.

  1. Paul“from me”
(the one speaking / the original teacher)
  2. Timothy“what you have heard”
(the one receiving directly from Paul)
  3. Faithful men“entrust to faithful men”
(the next group Timothy is told to invest in)
  4. Others also“who will be able to teach others also”
(the fourth generation—people they will reach)

So in one sentence, Paul is laying out a chain:  Paul → Timothy → faithful men → others
I pray you really hearing this? That’s not just teaching…it’s multiplication.
And here’s why that matters so much for what you’re building:

Paul isn’t telling Timothy, “Be a great teacher.”
He’s telling him, “Build people who build people who build people.”

That’s the difference between impact and legacy.

Anyone can help one person.
But when you intentionally invest in someone who will invest in others, your influence moves beyond your lifetime.

That’s how the gospel spread.
That’s how the first-century church was built…it’s how movements are built.
That’s how a mentor’s voice echoes long after they’re gone.  (Who was yours?)

All of this was inspired by watching my daughter, Danae, walk across a stage to receive her diploma, and by the mentors who helped build her. This message isn’t just for college grads but for the men and women who are mentors to all who are in their circle.  Each of us, as part of the church…the community of believers have that calling…that duty and clearly that obligation right out of the mouth of Christ.  So when you tell your graduate this, your neighbor, your small group member… the weight of it is:  You are not just called to succeed…
You are called to multiply what was given to you.

And if they grab that, it will change how they see every relationship going forward.
Honor isn’t complete until it multiplies.

Yes—write the letter.
Yes—make the call thanking them…recognizing them…loving on them.
Yes—thank them publicly.

But don’t stop there.

Live in a way that proves their investment wasn’t wasted!!!

Mentor someone else…with their voice still echoing in yours.
Speak life the way they spoke life into you. Invest in them.
Correct, guide, encourage…because someone did that for you.

That’s how you turn gratitude into a legacy.

And don’t hide your honor… Yes, I said, “Your Honor” … make it visible.  Please don’t misread this.  I’m not talking about pompous, prideful, or full of oneself. Jesus said in Matthew 5:16, “Let your light shine before others… that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” When you publicly acknowledge those who shaped you, you do a few things:
You validate their obedience.
You model honor for others.
