Wake up Calls!

When was your last one? How many can you remember from years past? How did you do with them? What did you do with them? After the crisis passed and somehow, someway God gave you a pass or it wasn’t as bad as you thought. It was manageable. And did it become to you something less than the fear and fright of what originally shook you to your knees? Or did the urgency of that cry out to God somehow become muffled and unnecessary considering how things turned out? Did we ask, what is God trying to say to me? Problem is, we may just be sobered momentarily. After a few days, the impact of the event has diminished and old habits of life resume. We are awakened and focused, but get over it quickly.

Can I answer with a few scriptures? Would you ponder each one in light of these questions?
Understanding The Lord’s Will
You just cannot be alert, awake, and active as a Christian if you are not seeking to understand the will of the Lord. "Therefore, do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is." Eph 5:17

Notice how two things are placed in opposition to one another: being unwise, or understanding what the will of the Lord is. Here’s what can be argued, based on this – If you are "unwise," as the term is used here – it is because you do not understand what the will of the Lord is. The other side of that – the positive side is – if you are seeking to understand the will of the Lord and engage in His will – to whatever extent that is your purpose – YOU ARE ABLE TO BE WISE IN YOUR DAILY LIFE. Can you really let this event go, without knowing what God wanted you to learn? It can’t just be about being a better person for humanity’s sake.
Where is God in your epiphany?

Ephesians 1:18 “the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints”. (This is a pearl…you will have to dig for it).

Proverbs 6:9 How long will you lie there, O sluggard? When will you arise from your sleep? How long before we end our search for seeking God’s divine purpose in your life?
John 3:5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. (We must be looking through spirit eyes because God is spirit).

Isaiah 51:17 Wake yourself, wake yourself, stand up, O Jerusalem, you who have drunk from the hand of the LORD the cup of his wrath, who have drunk to the dregs the bowl, the cup of staggering. (Will you let go so swiftly this “Wake Up Call” to the business of life?)

Revelation 3:1-22 “And to the angel of the church in Sardis write: ‘The words of him who has the seven spirits of God and the seven stars. “‘I know your works. You have the reputation of being alive, but you are dead. Wake up, and strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have not found your works complete in the sight of my God. Remember, then, what you received and heard. Keep it, and repent. If you will not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come against you….(Are you really awake…Are you listening?).

Romans 13:11-12 “Besides this, you know the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed. The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light”. (What does a “Wake up Call” mean in the eternal of our lives”. If we let it go too swiftly… NOTHING.)

God has a habit throughout history of conforming chaos, crisis, and confusion to His ultimate ends, and that involves interrupting our lives to get our attention, and to beckon our hearts to give Him room. And, while we don’t know why God has specifically allowed this, I do believe we can know what He is saying to us in this: Be Still and Know I Am God (Psalm 46:10).

Dear friend, whatever you choose to believe, I believe your wake-up call was not a coincidence, God was speaking but were you listening beyond the memory fade of the tragic news, almost died, I escaped the bullet, It was a miracle… You may have to return to a Wake-Up Call of some time past or maybe yours is recent. But I know you remember that event. You always will.

It is not too late to go back to the altar of the Lord with it. Discover God’s will. Discover what He was trying to tell you and perhaps you let a piece of it escape you or never fully had it. Pray and he will open up your spiritual eyes to see into His Will and His world. That will happen as you read his word.
