The Gift of Prophetic Encouragement Part 3
From the very beginning of creation, God desired relationship so he created mankind. Adam and Eve had a deep relationship until Satan came in and destroyed it. Originally Satin was called Lucifer, the Daystar or Son of the Morning. He was an archangel created by God to be the angel of worship Ezekiel 28:14
His problem was he wanted to be equal with God so he was stripped of beauty, wisdom, and position and cast from Heaven. Isaiah 14:12-15
Because of jealousy, Satan set out to destroy mankind’s personal relationship with God
That is why we see an assault against healthy relationships in our world today. Matthew 12:25
Have you ever put that together before?
God reveals his relational character to Adam and Eve in Genesis 2:4 by using a different name. Wait. What?
All references to God prior to this were God the Creator. (A distant God too far away and distant.) Here we see God’s personal name is used, the Lord God, or in Hebrew… Yahweh!
The use of God’s personal name is important and illustrates the relational nature of God. So what is your view of God? Do you see Him as personal and relational or is he distant and indifferent? It matters how you view him and affects everything about your relationship with him.
God does speak today through the ordinary and even mundane.
What is important for us to realize is in the parable of the lost sheep
Luke 15:1-7 Having heard this 1000 times, have you ever thought of yourself as the ONE? Interestingly, even at the time when I was the prodigal, I never viewed myself as the one! I never saw myself as the one he left the 99 for. Think about that…have you?
God is pursuing me and he’s pursuing you as well! We are the one!
But the day of Pentecost changed everything. Because we need the Spirit of God. Acts 2: 2-14-17-18. Because we have direct access to speak to him and for him to speak to us
Let’s go a little deeper. Do you have a difficult time connecting with God?
Why do you think that is?
Look at John 5:19. “Truly, truly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing by Himself unless He sees the Father doing it." 8:28. "So Jesus said, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he and that I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me.: 12:49-50 "For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. 50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak" How does that. apply to you today? Those scriptures are huge…If you would grasp their true meaning.
If Jesus is our model for a relationship with the father what can you learn and implement from his example? Real authentic relationships involve a two-way conversation. More than likely you will not hear the audible voice, that is rare, but God can answer through your thoughts, dreams, feelings, He can bring to mind scriptures or especially in journaling. At times you will find yourself in an encouraging conversation and suddenly you get this sense your words are beyond you…you have a real sense the Holy Spirit is with you.
Be a blessing to someone in your family or small group. Cultivate that encouragement. Be bold and start showing your love for others by being a prophetic encourager.
