Sundays Prophesy- A New Church Courageous Meets Tonight at 7PM
My daughter and I headed out at 6:45am to help serve at the first service in temporary quarters of Grace Family Church’s 7th location in Clearwater Florida. (Number seven is the number of perfection). A team of volunteers shows up to set up a remote site from scratch. Music, sound, lights speaker, hundred of handouts, children services, horderves and coffee before and lunch afterward for all attendees.
It was an incredible display of faithfulness and obedience by approx. 100 servants coming together to make their contribution of faith. I heard that someone said, they wanted to wait to serve until that Clearwater campus actually got into their permanent building. I told my daughter, that they missed the whole idea. Today was not a time to go and experience church it was a time that we gave of our gifts to serve, not be served. Jesus said that in Matt 20:28 “just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” God almighty who lowered himself to serve us and to save us showed us the greatest example of servanthood. These men, women, and youths came in obedience to the call of God on their lives to give. They came to show themselves faithful. Why? These were people who gave their lives to the Lord this first Sunday of a new church. People are hungry for Christ. Jesus said we are in a time of harvest.
It was a glorious day. There is no greater love than for a brother to lay down his life for another. One major way we do that is by tithing our time and talents to God just like we do our money. As I sat in the back waiting to serve, the Lord gave me this word:
“Do you see it? I am doing a new thing. Do not be discouraged by what you see and hear. I am not surprised, so don’t be. Stay vigilant. Do battle in the spirit! Intercede for your church, city, and country. It is not over. I have only begun to use you. So don’t let down your guard. Hold up the shield of faith together. Unite together. I sent home 1000s of soldiers and used only 300 so no one could take credit for the victory. It was mine. This move is for my glory and for no man to boast. But I have sent you to be my voice, to speak the power in my word. Be obedient and do not fret or fear the outcome that is my responsibility, just be fearlessly obedient and courageously faithful and then stand back and see the power of my spirit move mountains and just as Obed Edom was blessed to house my tabernacle you will reap the overflow of your faithfulness and obedience. You cannot out-give me.”
Obed-Edom was a man from the tribe of Levi. We first read about Obed-Edom in 2 Samuel 6:10 when David was bringing the ark of the covenant to Jerusalem for a more permanent resting place. The problems began when they placed the ark on a cart drawn by oxen instead of transporting it on the shoulders of the Levites as God had instructed in Numbers 7:9. all David’s men were joyfully transporting the ark of the covenant to Jerusalem on a cart when the oxen stumbled.
Fearing the ark was about to slide off, Uzzah reached out to steady it. When his hand touched the ark, “the Lord’s anger burned against Uzzah because of his irreverent act; therefore God struck him down, and he died there beside the ark of God” (2 Samuel 6:7). David was angry over this incident and became afraid of the Lord, refusing to take the ark to Jerusalem himself. Instead of completing the journey to Jerusalem with the ark, David placed the ark in the home of a man named Obed-Edom the Gittite, and it remained there for three months (2 Samuel 6:10–11). During the three months that the ark was in the possession of Obed-Edom, the Lord blessed Obed-Edom and his entire household (1 Chronicles 13:13–14). When King David saw that God had blessed rather than cursed Obed-Edom, his fear of transporting the ark dissipated and he went once again to retrieve the ark (1 Chronicles 15:25).
Obed-Edom makes a decision. He will keep the Ark of the Covenant in his house. Now, listen to me on this issue. Obed-Edom invited the presence of God into his house. He is opening the door of his home to the Lord – for the Lord to be there 24-7. No place on earth is as private as your own home and the rooms in which you live. Obed-Edom knew this fact, but he said yes to the presence of God in the corners and closets of his family home and personal life.
It is so important to have a faith that goes beyond the church-house door. A faith that is only visible when you are in public is a false faith. Real faith begins in the heart and lives in your home. Obed-Edom had a place for God in his home and he made a choice – a personal choice. No one could make it for him or for you or me. How wonderful that he made the choice to welcome God into His life and home. I pray that if you haven’t opened up every closet and door in your heart and home that today you will repent, ask for forgiveness and invite him in. Then tell your family and friends about your decision.
