Your Inheritance is People – Your Purpose is People
Our goal is a person to speak to about Jesus. That should be the prayer of every man…every woman.
Psalm 2:8 “Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession”.
Can you hear his voice ringing down the great Valley of the Royal Gorge or Grand Canyon? God has a purpose for your life. And yes you will have to put out fires along the way and it won’t always be easy but unless you engage in God’s purpose for you, then you will be miserable, unsettled, unfulfilled until you do.
Jabez dreamed a big dream. He asked God for a big answer, INDEED. I think that is one of the patterns of God’s prayers. Dream Big Dreams! Be blessed to be a blessing to the people.
God is looking to bless his people through you, not just to you.
But we must remember that in this walk, in this dream, and in this purpose, you will be over your head. God has called each of us to be an influencer and you will need God because you cannot do this without Him.
The third thing we learn from the Prayer of Jabez is to Pray for Presence. PRAY FOR PRESENCE!
What we should be asking for is too big for me…it is too big for you. Acts 11:21 “The hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number of people believed and turned to the Lord.” The hand of the Lord will be with you too. God will surely ask you to do what you have never done. It is behind the door of prayer. It is behind the door you are praying for. Humble yourself and seek His face while there is still time.
Ex 33. 15-17 And he said to him, “If your presence will not go with me, do not bring us up from here. For how shall it be known that I have found favor in your sight”. God if you’re not going before me, I won’t go. Why? Because ONLY God can do this! Only God can have the credit. Go with me Lord, give me more than I need, So I can be a blessing to others. Increase my influence…Give me Wisdom…Give me Protection…Lord give me your Blessings, pressed down, shaken together, and running over
so that I might be an Ambassador of Blessings.
The last point the prayer of Jabez spoke to is; Keep me from Harm. Give me protection God. Do not let me grow lax or dull in my senses. Do not let me lower my armor. Give me spiritual eyes to see. Please Lord, help me to see what you see. Move me to my knees God. Give me the courage to stand when I am in the middle of the battle. Satan roars around like a lion looking for those who he would devour. If you are not butting heads with the devil, you may be walking with one. He is seeking you. He is crouched and waiting for you to stumble. Don’t be naive – FIGHT — We Christians need to get our mogo back. We need to get our Spiritual Confidence back or maybe we need to gather it for the first time. We need to let out a warrior cry. GET YOUR HANDS OFF MY CHILDREN. GET YOUR DIVISIVE SPIRIT OUT OF MY MARRIAGE. GET YOUR CONNIVING SPIRIT OUT OF MY FINANCES.
It is time to wage a war that we were destined to fight. God says he stoops down to lift us up. If you want to build your future you must lay a strong foundation. Build your life and your children on the Rock of Christ himself. There is no other foundation. There is no other hope. There will never be a larger dream. We have the guarantee of the promise of God himself. Be blessed so you can be a blessing.
