A Divine Appointment. Saying Yes to God!
I’ve often heard people say they do not care to meet our Jesus until they meet the reality of Jesus working in and through us. There’s no better sermon for the world than to encounter a soul who is saying yes to God
Did you know that people will see Jesus through your obedience? They will see him in those times that you say yes, even when you’re out of your comfort zone. I should say, especially when you’re out of your comfort zone.
How many times, let me count the ways, have I been on the verge of losing it and I just said no to God. I didn’t give it to him. I didn’t trust him for my peace. I didn’t shut my mouth when I should have.
As I stop to think about it for a moment, how many times have I told God no? How many times was I too tired, too insecure, too uncertain, too busy, or too selfish and walked right by the divine appointment of me saying yes,
but instead, missed an incredible experience from him?
Can I take a minute right now and just say forgive me Lord for saying no so many times! Forgive me, Lord, I am so sorry I didn’t obey. Lord if I were to repent for every time I didn’t say yes, I would be saying all day, “mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa”. “Through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault!”. Lord, today, by the power of your Holy Spirit, change my heart, change the way I think, right now Lord I say yes, Lord. Right now I say yes to you even before I know what you might ask me to do. David had a heart after God. Lord, I want you to create a “Yes Heart” in me.
Proverbs 3:5–6 “trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”
What am I saying to you today? I’m saying to you what the mother of Jesus, Mary, said to that servant at the wedding of Canaan when they had run out of wine. John 2 1-20 He said to his mom, “woman, it is not yet my time. And she looked the servant in the eyes and said whatever he says, do it!” And I am challenging you now, I am beseeching you now, during this holiday season…
in every situation, in every moment,
say yes to God! whatever God says to do, do it!
Why wait for heaven? Why not say yes to God on this side of eternity? My dear friend, this is a call to become a person who says yes to God. This is the fresh invitation your soul has been looking for and longing for. You may have often wondered what the stirring in your soul and that tug at your heart was all about? It’s about saying yes to God in all situations. What does the Bible say? “For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him, the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.” 2 Cor 1:20 Are you really listening? The answer is yes and amen in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Let me prepare you for the anxiety or even the fear of adventuring out beyond your comfort zone. That little fleshly voice says you’re crazy, they’re going to think you’re a freak, do you really want people to look at you that way? But I’m telling you when you get that little urge, that nudge in the spirit, be obedient! Be vulnerable… follow through on that unction, that leading, that random thought! DO IT! What is the worst that could happen? You prayed for someone who didn’t want to be prayed for? Or someone looked at you
and thought you were a little strange? Well, aren’t we?
We are in the most exciting time of the year. You can see His spirit and feel it in so many ways. We are also in the scariest time of the century with Covid hanging in the air. People really need to see the Yes Jesus, in you! Make a commitment every morning when you wake up to start saying yes to God. Yes, to wherever you lead me today Lord! Yes, to pray for someone, to call someone. You don’t need a perfect situation or circumstance to be a person who says “Yes to God”.
Starting today when you wake up! Begin with a simple prayer even before your feet hit the floor. God, I want to see you. God, I want to hear you. I want to know you, Lord. I want to follow hard after you and even before I know what I will face today, I say “Yes To You”. Give me your strength to be obedient!
I promise you that this simple act of surrender each morning will prepare your eyes to see Him, your ears to hear Him, your mind to perceive him, and your heart to receive him. This is how to live expecting to experience God every day on your way to a divine appointment. This is all about honoring God through what he can do through you. Yes Lord…send me!
