1Kings 19:11-12

"Go out and stand before me on the mountain,” the LORD told him. And as Elijah stood there, the LORD passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind, there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire and after the fire a STILL small voice”.

I read this and pondered what that meant. It clearly displays the power of God. The wind and storm that rocked the mountains, and earthquake that shook the earth, and the fire that was so intense he could feel the heat. But each time God said…. I am not in that. (How can that be?)

It's not that he is not sovereign. Not that he's not in control of everything that happens. But his direction to us typically comes in a small voice.

In the old days, God spoke to the prophets, but Jesus brought a perfect covenant and gave us the Holy Spirit that we could talk with every day. In his quiet way. It requires that we learn how to be still and calm in the midst of the storm so we can see what he sees and hear what he has to say to us. The truth is obvious, the more we hear it, the more we begin to tune it in, and the more we start talking and having real communication with him.

Until it becomes exciting to us, we are missing out on what living in the spirit is.

Psalm 46:10 7 WORDS “be still and know that I am God.

With so many rumblings going on around us, with all the drama on the news, with all the chaos that is inundating our family, who is not distracted? Who can be still? He draws us away to a quiet place so that we can rest ourselves and enter into his space to gain strength and wisdom for the journey…To give us wisdom for our next conversation. Not just the knowledge we've acquired over a lifetime but what God wants us to say and precisely how he wants us to move forward

Sometimes we read over a scripture so many times that we become desensitized to them. It's almost like, yeah, I know that one… but we're really not hearing and we're really not listening. Or our attention has been taken away by all of the thunder, the earthquakes and the fire around us. And we forget he told us that he would lead us beside still waters and in the midst of the storm and that he would speak to us and that we could hear him clearly

7 WORDS “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth”.

Stillness is key to hearing God's voice; the stillness of mind and heart and then you'll hear Him loud and clear. Remember He is the one who leads us besides the still waters and He is the one who commanded the raging storm to cease by saying Peace! Be Still!

Be Still My Friends and enter into His presence. A brother told me today, “Sometimes we exalt the battle (the noise around us) over exalting our God and King. That stillness, which is where we have that intimate communion and receive the General's orders, is the precursor prior to any battle”.

Are you listening? He warns us to prepare but we aren’t listening. He guides us when we are. His light goes before us but we must be of a mind for it. We must be looking for it. We must, Be Still, and wait for his direction. Don’t move without it. 7 WORDS. 7 WORDS
