What is Wisdom…Who is Wisdom
He who began a good work in you is faithful to complete it! Phil 1:6
Colossians 1: 28–29 “That we may present every man complete in Christ” (That refers to the 2nd coming). It is there that the HS will have brought his church, his children to a finished, perfected work that Paul speaks of here.
It was Paul’s passion Eph 4:11-16. 1cor 14:20
What is your passion? Has our careers or jobs highjacked the eternal aspect of living? Are we growing in our careers, climbing the rungs of some corporate ladder to provide, to lay up a nest egg for retirement, to leave a financial legacy for our children? Yes, all good things to plan for and work for UNTIL they eclipse God’s glory and God’s purpose for you. Who and what are we living for? Is retirement the end for us? Is the envisioned comfort of those days ahead what our lives have become? Have we become this unwitting pawn, to swallow this half-truth of Satan and the world that THIS is all good? Who could begrudge a person of those goals and aspirations?
the Half Truths…Satan wields them like a surgeon’s scalpel, almost stealthfully, carving along the fine lines of logic and common sense to slowly detour us along this pathway of half-truths to another pasture, another destination, and to another god.
Sure, we know the church. We know Jesus died for us. We know the HS was sent to indwells us. We might even know, without quoting the scripture: “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching and my Father will love him and we will come to him and make our home in Him.” Colossians 1 28 – 29 Here is another translation: “We preach Christ, warning people not to add to the Message. We teach in a spirit of profound common sense (wisdom) so that we can bring each person to maturity. To be mature is to be basic. Christ!”
1st off it is the Holy Spirit’s goal to present Paul, and you and I, complete in Christ on the last day. It says we preach Christ… But we are not preachers… we are carpenters, painters, bankers etc I am not a preacher nor am I a leader. I’m just………
No, that is not true. We are leaders! We are to be leading ourselves by the power of the Holy Spirit…our families and children, our neighbors, and our workplace…(yes even in the hostility of our world today, we are to be a light shining in the darkness as ambassadors for Christ…as emissaries for God himself). That is much of the problem today…Christians have stopped leading and influencing! Too many men have been beaten down…or willingly given up their leadership to their spouses or to others rather than take on the leadership they are…we are called to! And we wonder what has happened to today’s family. Matt 9:35-38 says: “Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. … Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest.” That’s you and me, friend! “IF…IF… anyone loves me, he will OBEY my teaching and my Father will love him and we will come to him and make our home in Him.” Colossians 1 28 – 29 I pray you are listening with spirit ears. As much as you think you are not…you are more than that… you are more than you are today…God has established a plan for each of us uniquely. OBEY!
IF you love Him and his teachings…OBEY.
“We preach Christ, WARNING PEOPLE not to add to the Message”. Don’t water down his gospel, through your ignorance or with blinders on ignoring warnings like this! We are to teach in a spirit of profound common sense (wisdom) so that we can bring each person to maturity.
Before it can be transferred to someone else, there is a conduit needed. An emissary of God himself, not just handing out the facts but “IN Wisdom”. That means discerning how God would have you serve up this meal to this person who might be a vegetarian or another who can’t have gluten…meaning that each person is different, and we must discern by His spirit how we approach them, how we would teach them about Christ! Not adding, the world’s touch of a watered-down gospel of prosperity and everything is coming up roses now that we have found Christ. No, it isn’t a time for the old fire and brimstone messages of our youth to a new person, but administering the truth of Christ in love…but it still comes with a warning.
Wisdom is not necessarily Spiritual wisdom at all. There are a lot of wisdom people, wise people in this world who don’t know God. People much smarter than I… more accomplished…educated…degreed but that is not spiritual wisdom. James 1:5 says, “But if any of you needs wisdom, you should ask God for it. He is generous to everyone and will give you wisdom without criticizing you.” Wow, we just need to ask God. Not a college professor or some new-age online guru. It says God WILL give it to you! James 3:17-18 says “But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness”. Now that is a harvest that God provides his kids…IF we ask…IF we obey…IF we would NOT let his word depart from us by being distracted by things that are temporal.
When we walk in Godly wisdom… it means when we walk with God who is wisdom, it says we will not comprise our integrity. It says it is pure…meaning there is no one pure but God and that requires an undivided commitment to his ways. Sold out! Dedicated! Warned, “Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it”. Matt 7:13
