Does God ever force you into a new direction? Part I
Most of us would say no…because “force” sounds harsh. But Scripture tells a different story. God doesn’t always invite us gently into change. Sometimes He closes every other road until obedience is the only logical step left.
You didn’t wake up planning to lose the job.
You didn’t see the divorce papers coming.
You didn’t circle relocation on the calendar.
You were blindsided.
One moment you were on cruise control…faithful, committed, doing the right things—and the next moment everything changed. Shock hits first. Then anger. Then fear. And somewhere in that storm, you ask the question we’re all afraid to ask:
“God… what just happened?”
This doesn’t mean you won’t be angry. Jesus flipped tables.
This doesn’t mean you won’t hurt. Paul said, “Be angry and sin not.”
Faith is not denial. Faith is direction.
Sometimes God brings us to a fork in the road where there is only one road left—not because He’s punishing us, but because every other path would keep us where we are.
Abraham didn’t ask for a relocation.
Joseph didn’t volunteer for betrayal.
Paul didn’t plan on prison.
Yet every forced detour became a divine appointment.
God doesn’t always explain the turn.
But He always prepares the terrain ahead of it.
And here’s the hard truth: if God hadn’t intervened,
you might have stayed comfortable, faithful… and stuck.
If your life just took a turn you didn’t choose, don’t assume God abandoned you.
I believe he is repositioning you. So assemble your praying friends. You are in a spiritual fight; realize that up front. Satan is against you, but God is for you, and He has a plan tailor-made for you. Let’s go after it.
“Lord, I don’t understand this turn—but I trust the One holding the compass.”
lord help turn my prayers of whoa into expectant faith, believing you are with me every step of the way, and you will reveal your will… my next direction… in your timing. Lord I wait in faith, for the revelation of your Holy Spirit.
(Please let me know how you are doing!)
