The Primary Goal – Invisible Things.
What does that mean to you?
You do know that the Kingdom of God is Invisible….Right?
That which is not seen by the natural eye. It’s an invisible Kingdom
One of my favorite verses has always been. Faith is the substance of things “Hoped For” and the Evidence of things not seen.”
One of my readers and mentors is Dr Anthony Trudela, a teacher, professor, sculptor, and man of God.
(I think God sent him to help keep me on the straight and narrow). He made an Ark of the Covenant to the actual specks in the bible, and he also made the Ephod of the priestly garment worn by the high priest. Absolutely stunning. He sent me a syllabus he teaches on FAITH to his students. In fact, I’m reading from it this morning as I am writing. I love Tony because he is one of the few who, when I stray from a proper interpretation of God’s word, challenges my thinking and my speaking. They go hand and hand. What we believe, we speak.
So how is it we are to hold onto and try to believe that hoping for something is the evidence of the unseen…the invisible of God? Matt 6:32-33 states,” He knows you need these things but to seek first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness AND all these things, (you need,) shall be added, so take no thought for the morrow. BUT Seek First”, the 1st thing, the must do… identify the primary goal and latch onto it. Seek First, those THINGS you hoped for”…” The substance/evidence of things not seen”
What is that exactly?
HOPE is our Evidence.
Col. 3:2 “Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth”.
Wouldn’t you agree the Outer Man spoken of in 2 Cor 4:16 perishes? He offers no guarantee of living beyond our today. He emphasizes again that the light afflictions of our days work for us a more exceeding and Eternal Weight of Glory, looking not at the seen but the invisible. One is temporal…the outer man…the old man. Here today and gone before we know it, and the Inner Man. A man with an eternal nature…a spirit, and a citizen of God’s Invisible Kingdom.
Can I lay a piece of groundwork? Heb. 11:6 states, “But without Faith, it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is”.
Meaning there is no other access to the Father. People inadvertently water down the true meaning of Faith with synonyms like trust, assurance, and believing. Instead of a term, Dr Trudela uses…
”Divine Certainty”.
Don’t you just love those 2 words? That’s what is needed to transform our lives…”By Faith”.
Rom. 1:17 says, “For therein is the Righteousness of God revealed from Faith to Faith: as it is written, The Just shall live by Faith. Meaning from Glory to Glory…from Faith to Faith…which is the only way God hears us. 2 Cor 3:18 says just that. “We are changed into the same image from Glory to Glory, by the Spirit of the Lord.
And in closing today…I just love this. The word “IS” in “FAITH “IS” THE SUBSTANCE”. “IS” is a linking verb, meaning that it makes the subject and object of the sentence equal; they are the same.
So the word “SUBSTANCE” of things hoped for, is also translated into the word “PERSON!”
Even more glorious is that it is used in the expression defining the Person of Jesus in Heb. 1:3.
Heb. 1:2 states: “Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed
heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds. 3 Who being the brightness of his Glory, and the express image of his person, (the word substance) and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high”.
Take notice that the word ‘things’ is also included in these two verses,
which are in the same definition of Faith.
Understanding the Foundations of our Faith.
That is what I want today. To help you understand Faith…Its Essence…
and to help you understand this very big word.
We do NOT get to write our own private future by using it as a personal formula for our own aim. But instead, we can have confidence in the future God has promised for us in scripture. God deposits in each of us “The faith” to trust the future God has written for each of us. We have the honor and the command to grow that faith by reading God’s words of Faith in His bible. Your future and your relationship with God is dependent on FAITH. The message of Hebrews 10 is to “Put your faith in Jesus Christ”. But there are warnings to non-Christians in our midst. They have become intellectually convinced of the truth of the gospel in their minds. They understand the miracles and wonders performed by Christ. But they have not come all the way to a relationship with Christ. They have not come “By Faith”. We cannot earn our Salvation by works…Ephesians 2:8 – 9, “For by grace are you saved through faith.” Being intellectually convinced will not work. Trusting in the invisible is something you cannot do without the Spirit.
It is a gift of God. Faith is the very presence of God himself.
Better than the best retirement plan on the planet. Faith allows us to listen… to trust the word of God. You cannot trust in Christ and not trust his holy scriptures and what it all means. What will my faith in Jesus give me in the final analysis? EVERYTHING THE BIBLE PROMISES. And each of us has been given the faith to believe that. It is God’s gift pertaining to your future.
We live against the grain of our Old Man…Our Flesh…against the grain of a very dark world.
Against the grain of our own fallenness, and your own senses that are never satisfied.
But Faith believes God. It gives us Divine Support by Faith. Faith that He is THE Anchor to our souls.
It is the “Elechos” The Conviction of the unseen.
FAITH!
