Tired? Discouraged and Down? Does God really care?
Are you ever overwhelmed with life?
Ever feel discouraged or even beat up, feeling like you’re the lone survivor on an island and if you can’t get to your destination, people you love will be hurt?
It is an overwhelming sense of despair. When you couple that with being run down, tired to the bone, feeling alone and unheard…it is literally devastating, immobilizing to the point of being paralyzed
You may or may not know what to do. You may not even feel like you have any option at all, and you break down and cry…man or women… It doesn’t matter. It may not even be the end of the world, but it seems like that, at the moment and…if no one is looking and you can just let it all hang out there…
you break down because you’re just too tired to hold it back any longer.
We all have felt like that before. I had a day like that this last week. and sadly when you put a few of those together or many…
it can come in like a flood and capsize you emotionally.
Maybe you have a friend or a spouse you can pour your fears out to…
if you feel they are strong enough to listen and help you bear the weight of your storm.
Or you might say, what’s the use…they cant help me other than a pat on the head or it will be ok rhetoric. So what’s the use. It can even be embarrassing to let someone else know that I’m in that state of mind.
2 Chronicles 16:9 says this: “The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is [whole] toward him.” God is looking for people whose hearts are open so he can work with them today. Asking: “Can I support and work FOR you today?”
So whose on your team?
Here we see that God has offered an extended hand and heart. He’s like this camera at our front door watching for anyone who or anything that approaches…to alert you. To give you a warning and time to prepare for whatever it is. He says, I’ve got your back.
You are turning somewhere in those moments or maybe its been a season for you…
I tend to turn inward and just keep stuffing my anxieties into some inner closet…
With excuses like, I don’t have time…or I cant deal with this now… Or I don’t know how to fix it anyway…
or its just too hard so let me ignore it for a little longer and go veg out watching some Netflix drama or comedy to escape these feelings.
I have been walking with my Lord for many decades, but I know these times too well. In fact, I could build a memorial wall, like in Washington with all these failings listed, one by one.
BUT GOD.
That is what I want to tell you. Whatever this is you’re facing… it isn’t to death. Maybe for some of us…
it is! But the answer is the same. Who can you turn too? Who can you trust with this burden?
Who will you trust?
I will fall off my emotional wagon occasionally, even in my so called maturity,
but I WILL come around and I will call my body and mind into submission…
I will turn my head upward to where my real and only hope comes from.
To God himself, revealed in His Holy Word!
I will start repeating and repeating Gods promises
so many times that they begin to mend and cover the hole in my heart.
“The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is [whole] toward him.”
When was the last time you signed up God to work for you? He has said, and is saying right now!…
“I want to be strong for you TODAY!. Will you trust me?” Are you listening? His word…God himself who we discover through his word offers us thousands of promises to trust him… lean on him…so he can be there for you….But you must lean in. You must grow your faith to believe His word…His promises are for you. Until you believe how amazing that is…that God would consider you important and indispensable to Him. Even more than your children are to you.
You say I have…and I hear 70 X’s 70. How many times does he say for us to forgive? Can’t you imagine that it’s the same for how long you hold onto your faith in God and his promises. You NEVER can stop trusting and returning again and again to the well of his never changing, ever present word.
What about when I don’t have what I think I need — enough money, enough time, enough help? Philippians 4:19: “My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” STOP a moment, and take those words literally. A promise from God, along with the resources…” “according to HIS RICHES of Glory” IN CHRIST JESUS!!!
Not to that person who is habitual about doing it their way. Not to this self determined, prideful, resourceful, stubborn, person who has a history of making things work out for themselves. Because, they have walked out from beneath the umbrellas of God’s blessings. Sin Stops our Prayers.
There must come a time that we learn to die! Die to those feelings of self reliance, in the face of the world who says…move it or lose it! Suck it up Suzi you can do this…just dig deeper.
I’m telling you to dig deeper too. INTO GOD’S WORD. INTO GODS PROMISES…
INTO THE ONLY SURE REMEDY THERE IS.
THE UNFALLABLE, UNCHANGING, LIVING WORDS OF THE ALMIGHTY HIMSELF.
Hebrews 13:5–6: “Keep your life free from the love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you”.
“The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”
“The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”
I will not fear;
I will not fear;
I will not fear;
SAY IT.
The Lord is my helper; I will not fear;
SAY IT, until it is furrowed into the brow of your thinking. So when you look in the mirror you will see it on your brow!
The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; Keep your eyes on the Master because the prayers of the Righteous avail much! Because God really does care for you!
