10 Ways to hear God #8–9 – Part 4
8. God speaks through Circumstances
I have long given up the idea that there are coincidences. I call them God incidents. Sometimes to hear God speak we just need to simply look around us and see what HE is up to. See what he is bringing into alignment. Then come alongside what he is doing.
I am a firm believer in the existence of God. When people tell me I have been plain lucky in my life – I tell them no – it is God looking after me! Instead of branding all lucky incidents in my life as “Chance” or “Coincidence”, I choose to call them “Miracles”- God’s way of telling me that he is there for me. Divine interventions! Why is that so hard to believe and hope for? Where does your hope come from? The answer is not CNN. All I have to do is open my heart and eyes for his love and blessings. He is and always has been revealing himself all around us but we have become too dumbed down in the natural to see anything spiritual Of course it occurs in another dimension and we are blind until the Holy Spirit opens our eyes.
Albert Einstein said, "Coincidences are simply God’s way of doing something anonymously". Take time to go back through your life and remember some of those ‘coincidences”. What you will often find is the Grace of God and the mercies of God that are new every morning.
9. He Speaks through Godly council & Godly Leaders Hebrews 13:17 (ESV) Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, God has placed leaders in the church and other places to guide us and direct us."
Godly Mentors "Where there is no guidance, people fail, but in an abundance of counselors, there is safety. Read the scriptures. Proverbs 11:14 (ESV) "By insolence comes nothing but strife, but with those who take advice is wisdom". Proverbs 13:10 (ESV) The way of a fool is right in his own eyes,
but a wise man listens to advice. Proverbs 12:15 (ESV)
Do you have godly mentors in your life you talk to? Oftentimes we limit ourselves to the advice of our peers. VS someone Godly, who may have already walked the same walk! Don’t just look up to them. Talk to them! When was the last time you sat under someone’s tutorage? High school? College? Where? We need someone to help guide us upon the journey of Christ in our daily walk with God. You cannot do this alone. You need to be part of a men’s group, women’s group, couples group. We become who we hang around or don’t hang around. You cannot do this journey alone. It is too hard, you will fail and never know the real treasures God has in store for you.
Freedoms you cannot imagine. Not just freedoms from but freedoms to!
