Your Victory War Chest… Where Is It?
Everybody has a war chest.
When I was a young man, someone told me to write down my victories in Christ. WHY? Because there would come days of discouragement and darkness where I would need to remember how God had carried me through. Victories are not just memories—they are fuel. They are weapons for the next battle.
I wonder—has anyone ever told you to do that? If not, let me be the first. It’s never too late to start.
Israel’s Short Memory
After God liberated the Israelites from Pharaoh—after they saw plagues devastate Egypt, after the Red Sea opened before them, after bread fell from the sky—they still operated out of fear. You would think such displays of God’s power and love would leave no room for doubt. Yet, they forgot. Their filter was clouded.
In Numbers 13–14, Moses sent spies into the Promised Land. Ten of them came back terrified. Their fear spread like wildfire. “If only we had died in Egypt! Wouldn’t it be better to go back?” they cried (Numbers 14:2). Fear became contagious, and the whole nation murmured.
But Joshua and Caleb saw the same land, the same giants, the same fortified cities. Yet they came back with a completely different perspective:
“Do not rebel against the Lord. Do not be afraid of the people of the land… their protection is gone, but the Lord is with us. Do not be afraid of them!” (Numbers 14:9).
Their filter was different. Their eyes were fixed on God’s victories, not their own weakness. Their war chest was full, and they knew where to look.
Our Modern Giants
You and I face giants too. They may not be nine feet tall with armor and spears, but they roar just as loud.
- The giant of a medical diagnosis that rattles your peace.
- The giant of financial pressure—bills stacked higher than your paycheck.
- The giant of family struggles, broken relationships, or children walking away from the faith.
- The giant of cultural fear—when the news cycle screams louder than God’s promises.
Just like Israel, we can be tempted to shrink back. To say, “It’s too much. I can’t fight this.” But when you remember what God has already done in your life, you fight differently.
Think of the last time He provided when you didn’t know how the bills would be paid. Or when you got through grief you thought would break you. Or when a prayer you whispered in the dark was answered in the light. That’s your war chest. That’s your proof. That’s your reminder that God is faithful.
Fill Your Chest Again
Joshua and Caleb were not just fighting for themselves—they stood against the unbelief of their own people. Sometimes, the hardest battle is not against your enemies, but against the doubt of your family, your church, or even your own thoughts.
This is why keeping a war chest matters. Write it down. Record every answered prayer. Mark down the times when God came through. Store up those victories so that when the enemy whispers fear, you can shout back with faith.
Philippians 4:13 reminds us: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Isaiah 40:31 promises: “Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength.”
These are not empty slogans. They are weapons.
Lord, help me to not be moved by what I see. Your Word is the final word. Strengthen me in times of trouble. Whatever I must endure, strengthen me to endure by Your Spirit. Help me pass on saving faith to my family and community. I will not relent in giving You glory, even when the battle is heavy. The victory is Yours.
