The Battle for the Bible — Standing When Culture Shifts. Part II
Last time in Has God Really Said? … We started talking about the biggest danger facing our lives… not earthquakes, wars, or famines—but deception. When Jesus was asked in Matthew 24, “What will be the sign of Your coming and of the end of the age?”—the very first words He spoke were, “Take heed that no one deceives you.” Let’s pick up where we left off on the last three key points God wants us to see.
If Satan cannot destroy God’s Word … he will do everything he can to dilute it, rewrite it, or replace it.
You don’t have to burn the Bible to ignore the Bible.
You don’t have to reject Scripture to revise Scripture.
The most destructive deception isn’t outside the church
It’s Scripture being rewritten from the pulpit. WHAT? What does that look like?
4. Deception of Redefining Marriage
Marriage was not created by culture … it was instituted by God.
“For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife.” — Genesis 2:24
Marriage is a covenant …a picture of Christ and His Church (Ephesians 5:32).
Satan hates marriage because a God-honoring marriage silently preaches the gospel … without a pulpit, microphone, or sermon notes.
5. The Deception of Redefining Scripture
The enemy’s strategy hasn’t changed: “Has God indeed said?” — Genesis 3:1
Many churches today preach inspiration … but not authority.
The Bible is quoted… but not obeyed.
Jesus faced Satan with only one weapon:
“It is written.” — Matthew 4
He didn’t negotiate.
He didn’t debate.
He declared the Word.
Because the Word of God is:
Living, active, sharper than any sword. — Hebrews 4:12
Breathed out by God. — 2 Timothy 3:16
It doesn’t bend to culture … it defines culture. Yet, one of the weakest things we do is read our bible.
6. Deception of Self-Exaltation
Culture says:
“You do you.”
“Follow your heart.”
“You’re enough.”
The Bible says: “The heart is deceitful above all things.” — Jeremiah 17:9
Self-worship isn’t new … It was Lucifer’s downfall:
“I will ascend… I will be like the Most High.” — Isaiah 14
We MUST be made aware, that the final deception of the Antichrist will be self-exaltation:
“Declaring himself to be God.” — 2 Thessalonians 2:4
What does that look like today? You know, the modern version?
“I define truth.”
“I decide what’s right.”
“I am the authority.”
How do you honestly see yourself in the mirror?
How many areas have you slipped in the three areas above?
How often are we asked to take a deeper look at ourselves in the mirror through the eyes of the Holy Spirit?
How critical is this? Eternity hangs in the balance!!!
There is only one who sits on the throne, and it’s not us.
How Does One Stand in a Time of Deception
The war that began in Genesis still rages today … and it is still about the Word of God.
Jesus said: “If you abide in My Word… you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”
John 8: 31–32
Freedom is not found in redefining truth … Freedom is found in returning to truth.
So when deception comes … and it will …
Stand firm. Speak truth. Stay anchored.
You can’t do that if you are not standing in the power of God’s word…Period!
Because your greatest defense in the last days
isn’t fear, anger, or arguments—
It is discernment grounded in the eternal Word of God.
