Holding God to His Word… When the answer hasn’t come…Yet

I want to share with you the prayer of my quiet morning time.

“Lord, I come before You this morning with open arms and an open heart to worship You and to tell You how much I love and adore You. Receive my sacrifice of praise today in everything that I do—in the hard and in the easy of this day—that people might see You in how I live it. Forgive me my sins, Lord, as I forgive those who have trespassed against me. Forgive me in those areas that seem to be stumbling blocks that I keep returning to again and again.

Strengthen my faith that I might overcome them today, this week, and this month. My Father, I thank You in advance for the things that You are going to do. Father, I see You in the sunrise, in the coolness of the morning, and in the dew on the ground. I see that You leave nothing undone in Your sovereignty. And I believe, Father, that all things work together for good. You take our dark seasons and shine Your light of mercy and grace so that we can endure.

Whatever comes today, let me not just shine a light, but shine Your light. I will take every thought captive. I lay my every wish, my every dream, every aspiration, every prayer at Your altar of grace, and I pray this would be the day that I see it. I believe Your mercy is new every morning, and I take hold of that today to usher in the hope of the Holy Spirit.

I pray for my wife, who was in the hospital again, and I pray and believe that this will reveal something more on the way to wellness and healing. I pray for those around me who are struggling—in their health, their finances, their families, and their losses. I pray for my children, that You would keep them close to Your heart, close to Your way of thinking. Help them to see and understand their need for a Savior and that we cannot walk this road without You.

Bless the work of our hands, that even in the hard days of darkness or silence, we would offer each day and each hour as a sacrifice of praise—not based on what You have done or not done in our eyes, but because of who You are. I pray for those in our family and others we have lifted in the Spirit—those who are distant from You, angry with You, or not thinking of You at all. Place people, circumstances, and messages in their lives as signs. Remove the scales from their eyes so they might see and be moved toward You with a broken and humble heart.

Father, let me stand in the gap for them until they see the way home. Move me to prayer and intercession. Lord, let no weapon formed against us prosper. Let our house be a house of healing and peace, and let everything that leaves it be an incense of praise and worship to You.

Father, let everything we do and imagine be with the realization that our life is but a vapor—that we are here for a short season as sojourners. Let us never lose sight that Your Holy Spirit is with us always—that we do not walk alone. Help us to grasp by faith that our sorrows may last for a night, but joy comes in the morning. Let that be our hope. Let that hope be our strength so that we would not become discouraged or turn away.

Help us to see that You created us to be a people of hope—to take the vision You have given us and place it plainly before us, that it would be the filter by which we live and breathe and have our being. Help us to understand that our lives are not about us, so we embrace Your vision—that we would become an image of Jesus in everything we do. And in that goodness, Lord, may our joy overflow, and may we know the truth of bringing heaven to earth in all seasons and in every kind of weather.

In Jesus’ name. Amen.”

There is a kind of worship that only rises in the dark.

Anyone can praise when the answers come, when the body heals, when the path is clear. But there is a deeper offering, that chooses to trust God before the breakthrough, to believe His Word while the outcome is still hidden, to lift hands not because life is easy, but because He is still worthy.

That is the incense of heaven.

I’ve come to know that trusting God is not proven in the light; it is revealed in the shadows. It is in the hospital room, in the unanswered prayers, in the waiting season where nothing seems to move…that faith takes on its purest form. Not a faith built on sight, but one anchored in promise. A decision that says: Even here, even now, I will believe You are good. I will believe You are working.
I will believe Your Word over what I see.

This kind of trust transforms everything.

It turns pain into an altar…. waiting into worship. It turns uncertainty into the surrender of my feelings and discouragement.

When you choose to “take every thought captive,” when you lay every dream at His altar, when you bless His name regardless of what He has—or has not yet—done, you are declaring that God is not just worthy of your praise when He answers… but worthy simply because He is God.

And that is where peace and hope and faith begin to rise.

Because His promises are not dependent on your circumstances. His mercy is still new this morning and every morning. His light still shines in dark places. And His purposes are still unfolding—even when they are unseen.

So hold tightly to His Word. It is the only true source of power.
Stand firm in what He has spoken.
Let your life, even in pain, become a steady stream of worship.

Because heaven does not ignore that kind of faith.

It breathes it in like incense.

Be encouraged and SPEAK His truth and He will be with you.
