Our Mistakes have Value!
F. Scott Fitzgerald said, Never confuse a single mistake with a final mistake. How have we let our mistakes – sins – shortcomings – keep us from doing for God, engaging with God’s people, or really stepping into the water of relationship with him? What do you think he expects?
Whoever you are, why do you think he called you? It certainly wasn’t because you walked on water. It wasn’t because you were this grand champion who rode this white horse at the head of the column cutting off the head of demons like you were in a lettuce patch.
I know you know that God loves you unconditionally. But I think somehow that has lost its weight in truth and the reality of what it means. As a parent, you must grab hold of this truth for YOU, not just for your kids. The point is God separates who we are from what we do. Isn’t that true for your loved ones? Regardless of what they do, they are still the fruit of your loins. If they have messed up, you want to help them be better. You want to help them heal or hold them up and be an encouraging arm…don’t you? How much more do you think God being God must love you?
Come on, let’s get this book off the dusty shelf and see it for what it is.
God’s promises have teeth. We are God’s children.
Some of you have slipped recently in one area or another. Maybe it’s an addiction, or an affair, or anger, unforgiveness. Maybe you have fallen into the uglies. Sure, we may not always act like a child of God but we never stop being his kids. Do you think he heard of your fall and said, Wow, I never thought of THAT when I called your name to be one of mine.
NO, He didn’t do that. He doesn’t make mistakes.
He is not caught unaware. HE IS GOD! HE KNOWS.
He loves you regardless and He wants to be your strength to rise up & serve Him.
John Maxwell said it really well he said mistakes are:
M essages that give us feedback about life.
I nterruptions that should cause us to reflect and think.
S ign post that direct us to the right path.
T est that push us towards greater maturity.
A wakenings that keep us in the game mentally.
K eys that we can use to unlock the next door of opportunity.
E xplorations that let us journey where we can we’ve never been before.
S tatements about our development and progress.
Wherever you are today. Whatever you would like to bury. STOP. You can never lose your value in God’s eyes.
1 Cor 1 ; 27-28 27 But God selected (deliberately chose) the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are.”
So what does that say to you? Can you see yourself in this scripture as one of the foolish ones? Hey… jump aboard with the rest of us! He CHOSE the weak ones to shame the strong. You know the strong ones who always want to take the credit. Who are always beating their chest and heralding all the great things THEY have accomplished. The ones who always want to do it themselves. They don’t need any help.
All I have to say… That’s not the new me! My God is always encouraging me to get back up, lean on him, put the lamp of his word before my steps, and encourage myself in the Lord and move forward on the mission he has called all of us to.
Yippee, what a great journey it has been. Yes, I have had some real chasms and pits of my own making along with some raunchy circumstances but He has always been there for me to lean on.
No matter what you have done or what you do,
we will never lose our value in God’s eyes!
