Believing for Miracles or The Sin of doing nothing
As we believe in a miracle for Pastor Dales Brooks, what is it you are believing for? Really, do you have a list? Or is it just one big miracle? Does it hold a place of intentionality in your crazy schedule? Maybe it time to put God’s words to work and not just have a wish list.
We have become partners in the miracle work of growing together in God. Scripture by scripture, from glory to glory. Yes, with some hiccups along the way but we are still in this together.
Is what you are hoping for beyond human understanding or explanation?
That is where the Holy Spirit does his greatest work.
It just takes a mustard seed of faith and you are on a God journey of your own. Only God's favor will open the doors to allow us to do what we need to do.
It is not about us. But it is about being obedient.
He told us to prepare by praying together, with our families for “a Storm” that’s coming. You may already be in a storm, but you need to know you do not have to walk alone. You must not walk alone. It’s about partnering with God the senior member of our team. Only His power removed the obstacles in the old and new testament. His power and grace are the God-given mercy for us to stand today…To take another breath, or for our heart to beat another beat.
Why is it that it takes a major catastrophe before we fall to our knees?
Why must we have near-death family experiences before we fall before God and humble ourselves? We work and fret and act like our 50hr a week jobs are our license to live a good life…to be happy and content. We strive for that vacation-like… if I can just get there, it will be ok. NO, we are missing the dance!
Ours is the sin of doing nothing. We have become comfortable living the American Dream. “Loving my life in this world.”
Greg Morse said, this shows itself not in the great acts of sin I commit, but in the good, I do not do. I have been guilty of what Charles Spurgeon called “ The sin of doing nothing”. Sin classically understood, is not just doing bad (commission) but also the failure of doing good. (Omission.)
God has brought you into a family, an army if you will, that is a lighthouse of Christian love. You are reading this, proving you have a hunger for God and his ways. He has brought us together, “for such a time as this” to do our part to encourage each other, to stand in the gap for each other, to press forward saving the lost. Can one be in God’s army and not be expected to engage in the battle?
Yesterday we spoke of entering the promised land. But did you know that 2 tribes, the men of Ruben and Gad, felt that the land, just outside the promised land was suitable to their needs and did not desire to continue into the new land or proceed on to fight the giants?
They approached Moses respectfully, “If we have found favor in thy sight, let this land be ours. Do not take us across the Jordan” Number 32:4
Neither God nor Moses took that well. Number 32:6-8, 14-15 “Your fathers did this! And behold, you have risen in your father’s place, a brood of sinful men, to increase still more the fierce anger of the Lord against Israel. For if you turn away from following him, he will again abandon them in the wilderness, and you will destroy all these people.”
The 10 tribes were ready to go forth to battle while Gad and Ruben are described as being those who would just sit there.
“Shall your brothers go to the war while you sit here?
I believe we are in prophetic times and that means there are perilous time ahead. We know that. So can we muster just an extra 10% for God as we prepare as good soldiers for battle? For prayer? For Faith? For digging a little deeper in your spirit to know him more. To press in for the joy that is His promise to us living in the now of our lives… the all of our lives. This is not a fake it until you make it and you do not stand or train alone. Please don't be content to settle for the ground outside your promised land. God has much better for you. Only Believe and pray!
Will you not stop and pray with us and your family for one hour this week?
