A Good Cancer Report on Pastor Dales Brooks
I received this report from Kaye on Pastor Dale Brooks on the prognosis and future treatment plan for Pastor. Remember the two types of cancer we are battling; Lymphoma, Non-Hoskins, and Mantle Cell, and the future treatments are different for each.
1. The Mantle Cell behind the right knee is greatly improved, so no more chemo on that. However, he will start radiation, at least 20 treatments, beginning after the Dr. consults with the radiation doctor today. Mantle Cell can pop up anywhere in his body, he will have a scan every 6 months for the next 2 years.
2. The Non-Hoskins is much improved. He will continue the Rituxan (a form of chemo specifically for non-Hoskins) every month while undergoing radiation every other month for the next 2 years.
Not exactly the report we were looking for, but we are standing and rejoicing over the improvements and still believing in total healing. “With man this is impossible, but with God ALL things are possible.” Matthew 19:26
The timing of God is not ours. It is a GREAT report! I hear throughout, the encouragement of progress and the hope of another day. I see the same giants that Joshua and Caleb witnessed in the promised land but said we can go up and take them.
The Twelve Spies who entered the promised land were a group of Israelite chieftains, one from each of the Twelve Tribes, who were dispatched by Moses to scout out the Land of Canaan for 40 days as a future home for the Israelite people. The account is found in Numbers 13:1–33
You know the story, when ten of the twelve spies showed little faith, in the doom and gloom report they gave about the land, they were slandering what they believed God had promised them. They did not believe that God could help them, and the people were persuaded that it was not possible to take the land. As a result, the entire nation was made to wander in the desert for 40 years, until almost the entire generation of men had died.
Joshua and Caleb were the two spies who brought back a good report and believed that God would help them succeed. They were the only men from their generation permitted to go into the Promised Land after the time of wandering. (Can I ask if you are believing for your miracle? That with God all things are possible!)
Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said,
"We should go up and take possession of the land,
for we can certainly do it." Numbers, 13:30
The healing of God is not ours to dictate but only to pray and believe for. Amazing that a Sovereign God is moved by our prayers of purpose. Amazing that he works all things for his glory and for our ultimate gain. Incredible that he directs us to walk in faith, believing with God all things are possible.
Caleb was from the tribe of Judah. The tribe of Praise and thanksgiving. Each time I speak with Pastor Dale his faith rises before me to praise God for who he is and how he continues to use him as he has grown older, just as God used his father, Hap, before him. (Isn't that the road God has called us all to?)
Joshua was from the tribe of Ephraim. He is known for his faithfulness, faithful to the guidance and Word of God. Joshua was firm in his faith, always courageous while always helping others. He was a man of prayer, sincere and humble. Everywhere in his life, he made God his guiding light as he led the Israelites and his family.
If you know Pastor Dale that could easily be said of him. He will never elevate himself, but his faith and faithfulness are the fruit of his life. How does trust affect your state of mind? How does hope affect your peace? Isn’t faith the seed of joy? I hope you can believe that with me and walk in God's truth.
Pastor Dale sent me a text last night. Isaiah 41:10 “Fear not for I am with you; be not dismayed for I am your God: I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you.” He said I am more certain of God’s promises than what I saw today.” That is a voice of Joshua, confident, expectant, with the hope of his glory clearly in his sights.
The promised land is one we can walk in now,
even though there are giants.
We continue to stand with Pastor in prayer for his complete healing as we stand with so many of you who face your own Goliaths. Stay on the wheel as God continues to reshape and mold us into his image. For in the Potters House, he promises he will speak with us and we will hear him. We have heard an encouraging word today as the Holy Spirit continues to take Pastor and many of you through the process of healing and victory. I stand before God rejoicing. Are you with me?
