Goliath had a brother
Here is the scene. You’re in a battle against sickness, oppression, or some similar struggle. But God delivered us using the five smooth stones of his divine grace. You defeated your Goliath
But then a few weeks or months or maybe even years later, that same situation or a similar one, suddenly returns with a vengeance. What you thought was under control resurfaced as if you had never delivered from it in the first place.
That just happened to me this week. These negative type experiences can drain the faith from your heart. You lose the anticipation and the power of faith and this spiritual paralysis immobilizes your walk and very soul. Hopelessness and a deeper level of discouragement come because the solution is beyond anything that you can see. And the consequences could be catastrophic and your last resort is God. You’re only resort.
Isn’t it funny that a Christian would say that? It is scary to think that you have been trusting God and you realize in that incident you haven’t had a crisis in a while. You have been cruising. But that old shoe dropped and fear blooded your soul while hope plummeted. For some, it is the fear they have lost their healing or breakthrough.
Brothers and sisters, it may be a breakthrough that you prayed through for someone else but something happened to take them back to square one. It is the fear that they have lost their healing or the doubt that they never really had it. For many, the result is one of faith-shaking disillusionment.
Scripture says "hope deferred makes the heart sick". Proverbs 13:12 This heart sickness is a spiritual disease that can cripple your walk with God. Remember, “faith is the substance of things you hope for”: if you lose hope your faith becomes hollow. But how can you trust God when it seems as though he let you down?
Dear one, it is very possible that what you are/were experiencing is not a loss of God‘s blessing, but it an entirely new spiritual battle.
This new war is a clever and effective deception that Satan uses to worm his way back into the lives of those delivered by God.
Francis Frangipane was in a similar battle and the Holy Spirit spoke and said Goliath had children. We all remember the story of David and Goliath. Later in his life, three of Goliath’s children and his brother showed up to kill David.
2nd Samuel 21:15-17 Wars Against the Philistines after Goliath.
15 Once again there was a battle between the Philistines and Israel. David went down with his men to fight against the Philistines, and he became exhausted. 16 And Ishbi-Benob, one of the descendants of Rapha, (Goliath) whose bronze spearhead weighed three hundred shekels[a] and who was armed with a new sword, said he would kill David. 17 But Abishai son of Zeruiah came to David’s rescue; he struck the Philistine down and killed him.”
After defeating the giant once, David had to face another giant that probably looked just like Goliath. We can only imagine that the giant talked like him and probably even smelled like him. The text said, “David became weary”. Perhaps he wondered, I thought I killed him. What is he doing back? He was dead. But, It was the giant's children that appeared and it looked like the same battle.
So what is happening? The first giant IS dead. Satan is masquerading as your former enemy so he can slip past your faith and regain entrance into your life. I’m telling you today that as hard as that may seem, resist him. Don’t accept the lie that you were never delivered. That you never really received that breakthrough. Stand in faith see Ephesians 6.

The living God who helped you conquer Goliath will empower you to overcome the son of Goliath as well.
Father God like David I have become weary with fighting an enemy I thought was defeated. By the power of your Holy Spirit Lord, I expose the lie that this is the same foe. In Jesus' name, I rebuke the enemy. I ask you, Lord, to send angels to strengthen me supernaturally, just as they came to strengthen Christ. In the name of the Lord. Amen
