What Love is Not!
Where are you? What are your dreams for your life and those of your family? Are you on autopilot with a lot of general plans for life? Career, marriage, family, vacation, retirement, and somewhere in here is God. It is so easy to get distracted. So easy to lose sight of the big picture. Too many have never really had it for more than a season. It’s like we get glimpses of something extraordinary. Something beyond just falling in love and letting life take over.
We get glimpses in movies and our heart flutters and our love soars and we swell in the emotion of overwhelmed and the passing euphoric feeling. Glimpses, moments so powerful, we spend a lifetime trying to recreate them within ourselves. But it is all vanity.
The truth is without a passion and joy in God alone…in God first… we will always be that sojourner looking for real joy but we’ll never find it because it is only found of God!. The real truth about love, sacrifice, redemption, and the eternal plan God has for us and for our generations. What can possibly compare? How can natural become supernatural?
Real love is purely supernational, one of the gifts of the spirit! A gift of God!
Amazing how the slivers of hours slowly change us into more of the natural…more of the world’s eye for what their reality is and they say love is. But only God is love. Anything else is a man-made idol of lies and distortion.
All things that are good come from God. Every good thing comes from the father and we must be born of spirit to know these things. To appreciate God and who he is and what he has done for each of us personally. To stand in the majesty of an all-loving, knowing, perfect, righteous father who has plans to bless us, love us, and teach us his gift of loving so that out of the abundance of that supernatural truth we explode with a joy and exuberance born only of the spirit. It is not by might, not by power but by my spirit says the Lord. He has told us a thousand ways…The joy of the Lord is your strength… Look to the hills where your hope comes from. Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
God called us, we didn’t call him. He wrote our name in the Lambs eternal, book of life. He said your joy would overcome the world, the joy in Jesus Christ himself. And it is in the overflow for that Love, that perseverance and obedience that we become lovers of God but also lovers of those we touch and come in contact with as his ambassadors. It is a supernatural revelation revealed only by God the Holy Spirit. It’s like Peter keeping his eye on Jesus and was lifted from the wild sea of torment and uncertainly.
I will love the Lord my God with my whole heart, mind, and soul and the second greatest commandment is like unto it. Love thy neighbor as thyself. Anything short of this is a mirage, an illusion, and only as fleeting as your thoughts for the moment. For I have come to give you life and love and give it to you abundantly. Christ is love. He is the reason we live and breathe and have our being. When we can meditate on THAT supernatural truth, our lives become filled with the Love and Joy of God himself and it overflows into everything you are and everything you do and feel, moment by moment!. It changes you and everyone around us one person at a time.
Would you pray with your family one hour this weekend and meditate on God and His supernatural goodness and ask him to open up your heart to God’s dreams in you and for you.
