How do you know me? You find me in the suffering of your lives.
How do you know me? You find me in the suffering of your lives.
1 Peter 5:10
And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will Himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.”
How broken is broken? How broken as a person are we if just our arm is fractured? Or how about your index finger? Every taken that for granted? I believe, sadly, too many get used to living broken, mediocre, or beneath their potential let alone God’s hope and promise for them.
How about a broken or compromised spiritual heart?
When exactly did we begin to settle for the American Dream and not push through the sufferings and disappointments for a little while, and look to the great physician to make you strong, firm, and steadfast…
But not in you… but in Him?
I am amazed at these ripped bodybuilders who spend these countless hours looking beautiful physically but we shy against laying down a regiment of holiness and purity before God. Just one step of spiritual calisthenics at a time. Reading a verse or a chapter. Keeping a simple journal with some simple questions or prayers…expecting God to guide you. A bible study with a friend to learn more about how to live and how to love.
How do you know me? You find me in the worship of your lives.
You learn about me in the firestorms of your life. When you lift up my name, I will make myself known to you. I will see you through it. I can be trusted…It is who I am! Faith comes by hearing but we aren’t listening to anyone but the drones of the world and their babble and twisted ways of seeing and hearing. How does one rebuild one’s faith in God on a higher level? "For the Lord your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you, if ye return unto him". 2 Chronicles 30:9b
He said when you choose me you empower my spirit within you to rise up and give you a real victory. He will rebuild your bones, and your broken heart and twisted thinking that you can’t see in the dust of the storm that has become normal for you. God’s world is his word and it is supposed to be ours and we are to share those principles in living with all those around us. So much so they beg the question of you…what is this love and kindness I see in you in the brokenness of your moment? How do you do that?
My mom at 95 will be coming home from the hospital from Covid pneumonia and when my girls went and got retested again yesterday the nurses remember her and asked about my 95-year-old mom. They wanted to know how when so many,… so much younger are dying, your mom is holding on and coming home? They said, we have to know! My wife said the word of God and prayer. A little every day, or for my mom, she lives and breathes it like the air itself. Because it is!
1 Peter 5:10
"And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will Himself restore you and make you strong, firm, and steadfast.” But for my mom Adele,…even if he does not… He is still the God of her todays and all her tomorrows. Her testimony of faith even in all her frailness is the power of Grace. I look at the testimony of her life and I am inspired, encouraged and completely humbled. I want to be more like her as she continues to become more like Christ! Now that is a dream and a legacy for an eternity of generations.
Will you pray with us, with your family, for one hour this week? Just ten minutes a day will get you there.
