What do you live by? Who do you live for? What is the filter in your life today and tomorrow and forever?
What does it mean to be a person after God’s own heart?
David was like that and so many others throughout history. They sacrificed everything to not betray their love and commitment to God almighty. What does it mean to you to be a person after God’s own heart? Really.
Do you live in harmony with God? Does making him sad… make you sad? Does doing what makes him happy, according to his word, make you happy? Are you in sync with the principles of God?
How do you go about walking in the wisdom of God?
He said he would write his laws on our hearts. Bottom line: He said, a man or woman after God’s own heart is one that is sold out to God. They are in a relationship with him from dawn to dusk. It means we have given our heart to Jesus Christ! We have laid down the idols of our youth and continually seek after God’s ways, God’s Wisdom, and God’s Words!
Matthew 6:21 says, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” In this passage, Jesus is warning His disciples to stay away from the love of riches and earthly possessions. Stay away from carnal desires and temptations that will easily satisfy our flesh but leave our spirit dry and empty.
Is your online presence more important than your worship presence? Whose approval are you seeking first? We spend much time updating, repairing, and formalizing our home but how much time are we putting into building God’s house? How do we redirect our hearts? How do we keep our hearts Intune and sold out to Jesus?

Godly Friends: Are there to tell us how to best get there.
Wise Counsel: Is there to tell us what God would do.
Who are your friends? Who are those around you that influence you and your circle of influence? God sent his disciples out in twos so they could encourage one another. So they could pick the other up when they fall. It’s one big reason I love Christian Groups. Gathering together to discuss family living, family dilemmas, family crisis, and family encouragement and wisdom.
God gave us his filters that too often sit on a shelf gathering dust while too much of our lives are spent in turmoil without God’s peace. Where is the fruit in your life? Where is the balance and guardrails, he encourages us to put in place to keep us safe?
Someone said if you want something you have never had you must give or do something you have never done. Too many of us are running on empty. Our low fuel light has been flashing for some time. We totally ignore our check engine light. The truth is God’s light is nowhere near bright enough. Each year we spend more time making excuses than serving or loving, or forgiving or praising or encouraging.
1 Samuel 16: He was a little boy, (David), who was best friends with sheep! But the Lord said in verse 7, “Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” What does it mean to you to be a person after God’s own heart? Really. It means selling out to God. Wash everything through his filters.
Lay down your cares and anxieties, Stop living your life in your rearview mirror. Lay down your mistakes, your past, present, and future. Give up all your wants and needs at the feet of the one who is in control. Eph 3:20 “ Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,”
Do you truly desire a heart after God? Then you must give up the death grip we have on all our desires that were not first filtered through God’s filter. Entrust your life, your marriage, your kids, your job, and your future to the one who has bigger plans for you than you can even fathom. Help me Lord, choose you and give me a heart after your own.
