Do You See the Problem or See God?
What do you see differently because we are on God’s team? Phil 4: He promises that “He that began a good work will continue until it is finished”. As we mature in Christ we come to know that it isn’t about me. It’s about the leadership of Christ in our lives. It is about trusting God to help us, and support us in a life of serving, even when it seems hopeless. What filter do you see your problems and challenges through? You + God are ALL you need.
Let me illustrate. One of my favorite stories in the Bible is in II Kings 6. The Syrians were attacking Israel, but every time they planned an attack, Israel was two steps ahead of them. The King of Syria thought he had a traitor among his staff but was told about Elisha. In verse 12, one of them said, “The prophet Elisha tells the King of Israel what you say even in the privacy of your own room.” The king decided he wanted to capture Elisha.
to see what was happening in the heavenly realm.
What eyes do you see your problems through? God gave the victory that day and He wants to give it to you today. It comes down to what eyes you’re looking at your circumstances through. The one set sees yourself surrounded by your problems with no way out. The other set sees that God is bigger than your problems and wants to give you victory. One set says, “I’m doomed.” The other says, “Greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world.” One set forgets what God has done for you. The other knows God has not failed you.
At some point, we will learn that we cannot do life alone. We cannot do marriage and fatherhood and work alone. When we envision the passage, “I can do all things through Christ” we come to see it’s about surrender, meekness, and humility. It has never been about human effort as extraordinary as it might appear at times. We are Holy Spirit empowered, or we are not worth anything in our own strength. Having a 401k is not what security is. God offers what time and the locust of life cannot devour or rust away. PS 46: 1 “God is our ONLY refuge and strength… always ready in times of trouble”.
I know where two or more are gathered. You are there!
