How do you get the life you always wanted without putting the life you have at risk?

Isn’t that the question? Peace, Joy, happiness, forgiveness, eternal security, How does one do that? May I ask you first, what is it your protecting? What is it that a life given to Almighty God impairs? Hinders, or destroys?

That hole in your inner man that is always searching for something more… Are you protecting the hole?

The unhappiness in your marriage or your job and finances? The addiction to alcohol, porn, anger, cynicism, deceitfulness, or unforgiveness… are they so valuable you want to keep them, protect them, and grow them? So may I ask again. How do you get the life you always wanted without putting the life you have at risk? Isn’t that the question? Peace, Joy, happiness, forgiveness, eternal security, How does one do that? Thus saith the LORD: Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. Jeremiah 6:16 KJV Have you ever searched for something in the kitchen? Went through every cupboard and drawer, the refrigerator twice, and finally found it right in front of your face. It was there all along but in our haste, we missed it? How frustrating was that? It happened to me this morning. 😊 But that loaf of bread I sought was there all the time. Waiting. Just like Jesus is always waiting for us. But his is the bread of eternal life, the water that will forever quench your thirst for the things of this world. The book that most people don’t read says: “You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness”. Ephesians 4:22-24 NIV The old self we are told to put off is the person we were prior to coming to Christ. That set of clothes is moth-eaten, threadbare, and dirty. They are comfortable and familiar. But they need to go. Again, what is it you are protecting? Is there something about Christ’s quality of living and giving that is repulsive to you? That isn’t loving, admirable, honest, peaceful, gracious, and forgiving? Is that such an extreme that we hold onto the old us vs letting the Holy Spirit renew our minds and hearts and gives us a new life worth living for eternity?… wow, think of that? But throwing off these old garments, so to speak, is the real key. It is not enough to simply sew on some patches or wash out the worst of the stains. Nor is it sufficient to just accessorize a bit. (Been there done that!) Paul tells us that we need a complete Spiritual makeover.
