Fearlessly Courageous

I want one day where I'm not worried about the future and thinking about the past!

I heard someone say, " I want one day where I'm not worried about the future and thinking about the past!". How does one do that without God?  As a recruiter and salesman, every year is a new challenge.  Every month and every day is a battle of fighting for the right attitude and motivation.  As a man, it is easy to say, how can I duplicate that?  How do I keep replicating these numbers year after year?  We are probably headed to a recession; interest rates are going up, food prices and gas have doubled.  How do I fight battles I don't even want to be a part of, but I am.

Last week, I rewatched the Ten Commandments and loved the scene as Moses stands on the rock with his back to the sea, while Pharaoh is charging down with an army of chariots.  They have no escape, and Moses says, "Stand and see the Salvation of the Lord", and God parts the Red Sea, and 3 million Israelites walk across on dry ground.  I know…where is Moses when you need him? There have been no Red Sea partings for me lately. How does one fight for their future beyond just work and more work and a lot of luck?

God's word clearly lays out a roadmap for success. (We know that of course).
But, fighting for your future cannot be you doing it the same old way.  It’s past time to begin fighting in the spirit.  It’s a spiritual victory we need first.  It’s a spiritual foundation we must secure first.  Can’t you see your future isn’t made up of business as usual?

Real success is laying our future at the foot of the cross. Real success is inviting the Holy Spirit into your every day, starting today. Not just our problems but our future.  Moses was in a right place with God, as was Joshua.  Even though there was much trouble around them. They had laid a proper foundation of prayer, obedience, and faithfulness. They had practiced walking by faith and believing in God for their provisions and well-being.  It is very true that the Israelites dropped the ball on numerous occasions and some died in their rebellion but He kept pursuing them, pruning them, testing them, chiseling off the old way to create a people after his own heart. He is doing the very same thing with you and me. I am convinced we will continue fighting the same trials until we beat them in the spirit.  Until we walk through them with faith and trust in the Lord, whatever the outcome.  When Satan knows where he can get to you, he will keep coming back to that soft spot and pummel you into submission.

It is time to fight for your future but that must include letting go of your past failures, apprehensions, and "what if’s”.

That’s very hard to do when we’re living in the past and live in fear of tomorrow. Too many haven’t even forgiven themselves for some past mistakes or failures.  Is 43:18-19, "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland".

You need to put an end to that immediately by being obedient to God and not harbor unforgiveness in your heart, even if it's you. What does scripture tell us? 2 Cor 10:5 "We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ". The Apostle Paul is telling us that the battlefield is your mind and your thinking.  He is saying that satan invades with thoughts of fear and 1/2 truths of possible or potential failure and instead of putting up a defense we actually start playing with these thoughts.  We start reinforcing their possibilities with past struggles and or failures and start to build a stronghold of fear.  That thought from Satan we fortified and reinforced and what started as someone throwing a brick at us, we took it and added some similar bricks of our own and built this wall, that after a while became a stronghold of the enemy in our own camp. Timothy 1:7 “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.“ Do you see the origin of fear?
“Fear arises when we imagine that everything depends on us.” — Elisabeth Elliot

We must learn it is not our job to do the heavy lifting. That is God's job.  He sent his Holy Spirit to empower us and ready us for these assaults.  We are not fighting earthly adversaries, our battle is in the spirit!  God's word is our weapon!  Moses knew that.  God had already broken him and changed him, tested him. Moses was now a warrior priest for God himself.   I know there is a warrior priest in each of you that is waiting to be awakened.

So be humble before God.  Stop where you are and apologize to him for taking the spirit-led life so lightly.  He promises to forgive you.  He knows where you live.  Love on him.  Take up his word and the sword of the spirit and speak to those thoughts and battles and take authority in His name.  Close your eyes, see yourself as a young child cuddled up in His arms,
content just to be with your father.
