IS IT THE LAST DAYS? CAN PRAYER HELP II

Last week we spoke about living in a spiritual and moral drought and how prayer can help us break through it. We started to break down the seven parts of the “ Our Father”. Let’s continue.

1. Our father who art in heaven.
2. A relationship with God Almighty must include worship.
3. We need to pray his agenda.
4. Give us this day our daily bread. There is certainly a time in the Our Father for our own personal needs. But we can’t live in the circle of we only need God when we have needs. It says in Psalm 121 1-2 to depend on him for everything. “ I lift up my eyes to the mountains where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth” Meaning we can trust God for everything. It says my help comes from the Lord. I look up to the mountains. He is sovereign and in control.

Matthew 6:26-34 "Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?" As we are about our father’s business, do you think for even a second he will not be about yours?

5. Get your heart right with God and with people. Lord search my heart and do not let me become desensitized to sin. Sear my conscience. Point them out to me. Run your spirit of forgiveness through the filter of who has offended me or even others that I have attended. Lord do not allow me to be led into temptation. Help me to keep my eyes focused on you. Forgive us Lord as we forgive others.

Jesus tells us that if we have a problem with a brother to go to him. Air it out. If you hold ill against him, forgive him so that God might also forgive you. But we must do it actively, intentionally. It means not taking up the spirit of offense so easily and so often. This frequently happens with people in our own family, when our God filters are really not in place. When we do that people will notice and see the light of Christ shining through you.

6. Remember to daily engage in spiritual warfare: Ephesians 6:12 says that we war against the powers of darkness. Against the spiritual forces of evil. If we really believe that we would be more serious about prayer. You have an enemy who is working harder to destroy you than you are fighting to defeat him and defend yourself?
1 John 1:9 says to confess our sins daily. Confession is part of prayer. It is part of communicating with a holy God. When you’re silent. Satan and his cohorts are not. When you’re out cruising, he’s got a Hummer and he’s coming fast. Nehemiah IV. Shows that we must fight for our family. Fight for our children. And prayer puts an umbrella of protection over our kids. It blesses them in their comings and in their goings. A key component in engaging in spiritual warfare is the protection of the things that we hold most dear. Never doubt that there is true power in prayer.

7. Express your faith in God‘s availability:
Jeremiah 32:17 “Oh, Sovereign LORD, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you".
Revelations 5:13 All glory is for you. “13 And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard them saying Blessing, and honor, and glory, and power, be unto Him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb forever and ever." Are you listening? Are you taking this in personally? God Almighty, before time began, chose you! YOU! Personally…by name…AND prepared a place for you in eternity with him. When you even begin to fathom who He is. How great He is. How perfect and loving He is. How could your faith not swell beyond the measure of our scant problems? They will all pass away when we pass through his pearly gates of redemption and salvation. Let your faith sing…and rise up. Worship Him in spirit and in truth. When you can do that, the joy of the Lord will overflow in you to everyone and everything you touch. And you will find that peace of heaven…on earth.
