Jacob limped away with God’s Blessing. What is your Limp?
Courageous is tonight at 7PM.
In Genesis 32:25 there’s a story about Jacob wrestling with God and as a result, God gave him a limp for the rest of his life.
I believe we all have a limp. And I believe it helps define who we are. What is your limp? Isn’t it interesting that you can hide a wound or a scar but you can’t hide a limp? Somehow I think God wanted Jacob to limp with some holy semblance of pride?
He just wouldn’t quit until he had his blessing.
I know that I have battle scars that I’ve hidden from the world because I’m ashamed of them. When we do that there is a tendency to hide by putting ourselves into a corner so people won’t notice it or notice us. And in so doing we don’t even allow God to grow us from the battle or those war wounds. We just try and bury the entire experience. Sometimes its time to clean out our closets
Jacob was a man with many weaknesses yet he pressed on with God and was determined to be blessed by God Don’t allow your weaknesses to keep you from God. Don’t give up on pursuing the blessings of God.
We work so hard for our degree, our careers, our dreams, and fantasies, I believe it time to remember our wounds will either draw us to God or in our minds separate us to stand alone. That is always Satans desire; Isolate you. Keep you doubting who God says you are. What he has called you too.
And that he is a God of a 2nd chance and seventy times seven!

I would ask you to wrap your arms around yourself and love yourself as God does. And say out loud: I accept myself, I love myself. I know that I am imperfect and have some real imperfections, but I will not let them define who I am as a person or a child of God!
(Say it again with authority like you mean it).
IF you will do this daily two or three times you will begin to develop a new attitude, a new filter, and a new way of seeing with a spiritual set of eyes.
Jacob limped away from a fight. But I choose to think and believe, that he fought for what he desired and dreamed of, he limped off with his blessing! A blessing from the Lord of Host Himself!
What is imperative for each of us to see and hear today is:
God WILL bless every single one of us in spite of us and our limp. In spite of us and our sins and imperfections. He is forever pursuing you and waiting for you to turn your hearts toward home at another level…limp and all.
But you need to begin seeing yourself differently Seeing yourself through the eyes of the God of Jacob. God is looking for men and women after God’s own heart. Like David, in all of his failures and previous sins. He wants sons and daughters who have the heart to do right and he wants to be there to lift you up when you falter and stumble upon your way.
Steve Arterburn said, “ God will take the lowest of all and raise him up. He’ll take the weakest one and strengthen him. He’ll take the most insecure and fill him with courage. He’ll take the least and make him the most. All you have to do is let him. So, whatever your limp is, walk with it and don’t deny it. It is who you are, and He is molding you into a masterpiece. You are who you are because of your painful past. God accepts you right where you are, limp and all. I hope you do, too.”
