Pastor Dale: The Fear and Faith of Cancer!
I am struggling with what to share with you today. But, have you ever noticed that sometimes it takes the crucible of another to cause us to see our own blessings?
Their crucible causes us to be thankful that our Giants are not Goliaths.
Looking at Pastor Dale Brook's battle with cancer and our favorite missionary Traci Watson's pastor in London , my struggles paled in comparison. I was humbled, even ashamed for my own murmurings. That’s what happens when we take our eyes off of ourselves and lift up another.
Pray for another — believe for him — with another.
Compassion fills our hearts for them. We are brought humbly to our knees to intercede, asking for mercy and grace and healing and peace and joy for their soul. PS 23
“Although I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil”.
Just like my mother said, “as I lift up another in their heaviness my own burdens are made lighter”. As I intercede with Christ for them. I come closer to God‘s glory and God‘s will. I see and feel a deeper dimension of God. I feel the father’s love and empathy for his children — for me. I discover a deeper Grace – a higher peace. My eyes become more open to seeing with spiritual eyes the things God wishes and wills for his children.
As I weep with tears of compassion for my brother, his wife, and his family, I can actually see God's peace, like the dew in the morning fall upon them. I see his, "banner of love” engulf them and me as I stand in proxy for them. Solomon 2:4
I seem to melt in your presence today Lord — like a veil has been drawn back and the morning light of your strength and courage envelops them. I can see the obedience I offered in my prayer for them, blessing me beyond the giving. (James 5:16)
I saw more clearly the grace and glory of God and found the joy of knowing, even in the dismalness, of the moment… in the natural… "a joy" that Pastor Dale already knows and God is more deeply revealing to me.
To know God‘s heart for us is to walk in Joy.
Knowing that whatever His will… there is peace forevermore. We can abide in that peace, even now. when we accept his will, whatever it is.
We are believing for healing – but we believe more in the plans he has for us and in the loving-kindness, he has poured out on us.
1 Peter 2:24 “ By the stripes of Jesus He is healed… I am healed and you are healed too!”. Phil 2:13 “ It is God who works in you both to will and do for His good pleasure”.
As you continue to pray with us for Pastor Dale’s healing, I pray God's presence and the knowledge of his will…
changes you.
I know that would be the Pastor’s message to all of us. I can see him now, on that raised platform at Calvary Temple Church those many years ago, delivering this message as he battled with cancer the first time.
Can I ask three things of you today? Would you continue in prayer and a fast of some kind for these two pastors and anyone else you know that is dealing with cancer or a serious health issue?
2. I would love if you would send me an encouraging word and scripture or prayer for me to share with them.
3. Make this a time of intercession to pray for others and not yourself.
You will see that God will bless you beyond your asking.
Let the lesson today be the Faith in Cancer…Not the fear of it!
