Potters House Part III
THE POTTERS HOUSE PART III Stay on the Wheel
Jeremiah 18:1 "This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: 2 “Go down to the potter’s house, and there I will give you my message.” 3 So I went down to the potter’s house, and I saw him working at the wheel. 4 But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him".
How many times do we lay down the ugliness of our lives only to pick up those burdens again and put them on our back? We carry them into our homes. Yes, we carry those spirits into our marriages, into our relationships with our children and our families. All of these negativities, anger, unforgiveness, comforts, overeating…all of these perks, all of the dark things that we have become comfortable with… have become our comforts. They are all a poison pill to our spouses and children. They are cancer in the temple of the Holy Spirit. And God says come to the Potters House. Let me remake that heart from one of stone into one of flesh. Let’s open your mind and let your new heart speak new words of encouragement and forgiveness to your mind and soul and walk with me.
But there’s trouble in the house. As it says; “As a dog returns to his vomit", so do we return to the comfort and sins of our life”. Prov. 26:11 Have you ever known somebody where every problem seems to be caused by somebody else? Where it was always somebody else’s fault? These people feel so lonely because they feel like nobody wants to be around them and they don’t understand why. They love the Lord. They are born again. But they have this critical spirit that’s always blaming someone else. Sadly, someone did do them wrong. But that doesn’t give them the right to do something else wrong because they have the right. We carry the anger, anxiety, defensiveness, which are all the spirit of offense that we push forward into aggression and rebuke to those closest to us.
The spirit of "how dare you", arises. The spirit of, "I will never allow anyone to say or do that to me", arises. But rather than taking a pause, say a prayer or consider your spiritual filter and respond in a manner as Christ would. We feel justifiable in a like response even though the perpetrator has long forgotten the event.
Jesus however was beaten and spit upon and tortured beyond human recognition and went as a sheep to the slaughter. Father forgive them for they know not what they do. He found that strength in the Potter's House.
Do you see? If we aren’t willing to seek change within ourselves it leaves us with this justifiable, excuse-driven spirit of offense.
When was the last time you asked the Lord specifically to change you in a certain area? When was the last time you laid your heart and soul bare before the Holy Spirit? Scripture tells us to renew our minds by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Stay on the Potter's wheel until your Re-NEWed.
But people speak out of their brokenness. Out of their woundedness.
Hurtful things…ugly things.
Hurting people hurt people.
And we get to this place that we are actually paralyzed and can’t move and can’t make any decision. And it is at that time that we most need the potter’s wheel. And God tells us to stay on the wheel. Stay on the wheel. Stay prostrate before me. Do not cave into your flesh. Do not give in to the spirit of offense that holds these demonic treasures that you are holding onto. God wants to renew you. To heal you. To bring you back to life. But you must stay on the wheel. Grab a friend, grab your pastor. Get hold of a prayer team member and ask them to support you while you’re on the wheel. Ask them if they would intercede for you to be made whole again by the power of the spirit.
Run to the Potters House while He can still be found.
Stay on the wheel until you have a renewed spirit.
He says here in scripture IF you will come to the Potter’s house, “I will give you my message.” It is a message of hope, grace, and forgiveness. He said: 4 But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him". If you do not stay on the Potters wheel, the mar remains, the bent stays bent, the ugly remains a root of offense protected like the stronghold it is. Stay on the wheel. Trust God. Humble yourself before the Lord and Stay on the Wheel.
