Rooted in the Present, Bearing Fruit for the Future. The Speed of Love.
Are you living life through a rearview mirror, or walking hand-in-hand with Christ into your future?
Living in the past fuels fear about the future.
But God doesn’t dwell in our past mistakes, nor does He worry about our unknown tomorrows. He is the great I AM—present, here, now. His promises aren’t confined to memory or mystery.
They live and breathe in today.
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” – Psalm 46:1
We can grieve the past or idolize it, but you cannot drive your life looking through the rearview mirror. Life is lived in the present, and the future is only shaped by what we plant today. Faith isn’t rooted in nostalgia or fantasy—it begins now, in the presence of Him who walks with us.
Like many, I remember moments of exhaustion, regret, and failure. They still whisper. But those voices are not my truth—they’re only echoes. They are not who I am. Christ’s voice is different. It invites us to rise above the noise, to fix our eyes on Him, and to live forward in love.
“One thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead.” – Philippians 3:13
I sat through a series years ago on the speed of love.
What is the speed of love? It’s not rushed. It’s not flashy. It’s not performance-based.
“Be still, and know that I am God.” – Psalm 46:10
The speed of love is the stillness of a sunrise. It rolls in like the tide—never hurried, yet always advancing. It’s the Spirit’s nudge, the calm in the chaos, the whisper that reminds you: You are not alone.
“Love is patient, love is kind…” – 1 Corinthians 13:4
Jesus never raced to win people. He walked, sat, listened, and loved deeply. His love wasn’t measured in minutes or milestones but in presence. His pace was compassion, His rhythm was peace. How much in a hurry is your life? He can change that if you lay it at His feet.
Rooted in the Right Now
The Holy Spirit is not a background whisper for Sunday mornings. He is the very presence of God within us, ready to lead…If we slow down long enough to listen. Fear tells us to run. Love tells us to rest. Fear demands a spotlight. Love and humility light the room just by being present.
“Perfect love drives out fear.” – 1 John 4:18
Unattended fear takes root in our soul, masquerading as wisdom. But it’s counterfeit. It paralyzes and robs us of the vibrant life God intends. Fear without faith becomes a prison. But love? Love roots deep and bears fruit.
“You will know them by their fruit.” – Matthew 7:16
Be Real, Stay Present, Be Humble, and God’s Fruit will grow.
You don’t need to be polished to be powerful. Realness is magnetic. Humility is light. Authenticity speaks louder than performance ever could. Being present, honest, and kind…even with your imperfections…is where God does His most beautiful work.
Don’t just remember the past. Don’t just dream of the future. Build something today. Bear fruit today. Trust that the same God who walked with you through regret now plants hope in your hands.
“They are like trees planted by streams of water, which yield their fruit in season.” – Psalm 1:3
Today Is Sacred
The joy of the Lord is not some far-off event. It’s accessible now. His Spirit is here. Today is sacred.
So pause. Breathe. Walk at the speed of love.
Don’t outrun Jesus—walk with Him.
Let the Spirit root you in truth, grow you in grace, and shape a future that glorifies Him, one quiet, powerful, present moment at a time.
Our Courageous Men’s Group and Women’s Group begin at Grace Family Church on Monday night, August 18th, at 7:00 p.m. It’s a perfect place to begin that type of relationship. I believe that without that person, you will never know the higher mountain of holiness. Are you looking for that breakthrough? This may be the very place to help you find it.
I will also be hosting an Online Discovering Jesus 5-week class starting on Tuesday nights
Sept. 2nd, at 7pm ONLINE for people of all ages. Just send me a note if you would like to attend or know someone who would benefit, and I will send them a link.
