Spiritual Growth in a Pandemic

Growth also includes bearing fruit. What is the beauty and power of a fruit? Perpetuity. The fruit, via its seeds’ – germination and growth, becomes forever. Fruits have perennial impact. The seed bears a fruit, and the fruit in turn bears seeds, which then bears more fruit, ad infinitum. Fruits give you a taste of eternity.

While (often underground) roots are the indispensable foundation of a tree, which allow it to grow upward and outward, but a tree also has a solid trunk above ground. The healthy and firm tree trunk reflects our solid, unwavering values; our integrity, our faith and our hope: A strong tree does not get destroyed in a storm. It sways, but it stands. What has this last year revealed about you?

Did your faith sustain you through the fire? What do you believe in now?

Has your purpose in life been shaken? Or does the one you discovered seem weaker than it should?

Did you cross boundaries that you need to retrace or repent of?

In what areas of life were you or are you reliable?

Job 14:7-9

“For there is hope for a tree,

When it is cut down, that it will sprout again,

And its shoots will not fail.

“Though its roots grow old in the ground.

And its stump dies in the dry soil,

At the scent of water, it will flourish

And put forth sprigs like a plant.

Matthew 13:3-6

And He spoke many things to them in parables, saying, “Behold, the sower went out to sow; and as he sowed, some seeds fell beside the road, and the birds came and ate them up. Others fell on the rocky places, where they did not have much soil; and immediately they sprang up, because they had no depth of soil. But when the sun had risen, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.

Psalm 1:3

He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water,

Which yields its fruit in its season

And its leaf does not wither;

And in whatever he does, he prospers.

Are you listening? Without a real relationship and trust in God, what have you? He has planted US by streams of water. Perhaps you did not flourish this last year in the spirit and in your relationship with Christ. But HE SAYS you will bear your fruit in season, and its leaf does NOT wither. His Grace is sufficient. He will raise you up and be your standard. Lord forgive our unbelief and draw us back by your spirit like a chick under the wings of an Eagle in a mighty storm.
