"Is there any doubt who is on the throne? Look around, I am everywhere.See me – hear me – walk with me to higher ground.I will never stop, encouraging you, never stop making intercession for you to our father. Are you listening? Don’t let complacency set in. Do not lose your awe of me…And what I have done for you or how I have changed you. Have you forgotten your victories? I am reminding you of them.Count them. I am always for you.Bow down, walk at my pace, slow down, and remember the love and savor how I keep changing you to look more like me. Be vigilant and keep the oil in your lamp filled to the brim. It is your strength. I am your strength… make me your focus and you’ll remember the victories I have given to you. Selah"
I am so encouraged by the Lord's word to us this week. I pray you are. Whatever you are in the middle of He begins by asking, "Is there any doubt who is on the throne?" Can we just camp out there for a while? Just look around. We take for granted the splendor of the earth and the universe. We have become so familiar with it…we have ceased to see its grandeur. I can see his hand reaching down… "See me… walk with me to another level." Rise above…in me…whatever it is that has put you on tilt! I can hear his voice saying come on my child…climb up here with me. I am praying for you. Take the scales from your eyes and the wax from your earsIt reminds me of Elisha when the king of Syria sent a hoard of soldiers to kill the prophet. Elisha's servant woke up, went to the door, and saw these soldiers and chariots who had come to kill them. 2 Kings 6. paints a clear picture of the spiritual battle behind the scenes. It shows what is really happening.
Elisha spoke: "Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. 17 And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. 18 And when they came down to him, Elisha prayed unto the Lord, and said, Smite these people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha".
It is indeed very hard at times to look up and see the salvation of the Lord when all we see is darkness and hard times that are unrelenting. Trusting during these times is hard. But today He has spoken…
"Remember your victories…count them! I am always with you!" Are you listening today?
I read a piece online that was so clear. "Faith, to be faith, must center around something that is not known. Faith, to be faith, must go beyond that for which there is confirming evidence. Faith, to be faith, must go into the unknown. Faith, to be faith, must walk to the edge of the light, and then a few steps into the darkness". Today he says "Remember your victories". We are in a spiritual war and when we stay focused on Jesus he removes the scales from our eyes telling us to "Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them". The word today calls us to a higher ground…a spiritual ground that we can only access by the spirit. He exhorts us to keep our lamps filled with oil.
That represents the way we live and how we obey our Lord. God's blessings are not poured out to those who become lukewarm, or lose their awe of God…their trust in God. Without that, we walk alone. We walk beneath the power he has provided for us in the Spirit.
We are in a spiritual war that can only be won in the spirit. I see that oil as the holy spirit's power within each of us to endure the journey. To hold fast to God's victories in faith, that he has got this. We must keep focused on him so intently that we see that his army is much greater than the hands of the enemy…in whatever form that may appear. Can you hear his voice…
"walk with me to higher ground!"
