Sunday’s Prophesy
Sunday Prophesy – Hope Springs Eternal
"I have never lost a battle. The prayer of the righteous availeth much. I am moved by the desperate and selfless prayers of my children. I still empower the powerless! I hold up the sick and disheartened. I enable those who realize they are unable without me. Without faith, it is impossible to please me or move me. Only believe and you will find me opening the door to your breakthrough.
How bad do you want me? How bad do you want my will? Or is your petition about you? Is your desperation for me and my divine perfect purpose?
Pray until you break through to my peace. Intercede relentlessly until you realize my promise. Press in with the desperation to seek me and not just my provisions. Keep pressing in until you find the release in the spirit. You will know. You WILL find my piece. You’ll find my rest even in the midst of the storm. Because you know I have this and I have you!"
When was the last time you were desperate for anything? Would you stop a moment and remember?
When was the last time you could not control your sobbing and had uncontrolled emotions?
Looking in the mirror at me, I can remember a few of those times. They were so dark and I felt so low I couldn’t even reach up to God for a little while. I believe for a few moments I had lost all hope and faith.
But God, poured out His grace on me. His mercy came in the freshness of the morning. It was like he gave those gifts to me while I slept in the exhaustion of my circumstances. His Spirit in me rose up to refresh me. Oh, I was still in major trouble and the darkness was so thick you could cut it…but the undeserved and unmerited mercy and grace of God gave birth to hope and just enough strength to hang on for the moment. It was like when your pain is out of control and they give you morphine to take the edge off just enough that you can tolerate it.
But you cannot hold down the seeds of God!
You cannot suppress the hope of God for long. I couldn’t, as I turned to His word. I read for encouragement. I read for strength for another minute. ( a day was too much to reach for then.) I read for the peace that flows like a river. I was satisfied with just a spoonful. I read…remembering that his word would be a lamp to my feet and I needed a path out of my darkness.
I was completely impotent by myself and I knew it.
But I knew there are things that we can trust without seeing. We can trust our insurance company will cover a certain amount of losses or those baking cookies will leave a wonderful aroma in our kitchen. We are confident in them because these are legal and natural laws. In the same way, although we can’t see it, we can be full of hope.
Hope assures us that we can be confident in it because it’s the law of God.
“For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have?” Romans 8:24
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” Hebrews 11:1
True hope comes from God. He is the Creator of all things, including hope. The more I gave over my critical condition to God the more hope came to me. I had been hoping in things that in themselves could not bring me hope. Financial stability can’t bring true hope; it can bring security and a level of ease, but not true hope. A spouse can’t bring true hope because a spouse’s abilities are limited to what he or she can control. True hope comes from the One who created hope: God. True hope comes by trusting God even when circumstances are difficult. One way to know whether you’re trusting God is whether you’re obeying his Word. Trust produces obedience, which produces hope, which results in joy and peace; and that is the power of the Holy Spirit.
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13
Only God gives us the power to hope. Hope in Christ. Hope in eternity. Hope that he is sovereign and holds all things together with his hand for his purpose. Only God gives us the free gift of hope.
“And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” Romans 5:5
Hoping in God is the only true way. He promised that he has a plan for us. That means he and only he offers a future of hope for us. We can build a lifetime on that truth. So wherever you are today. Hope is here for you. Whatever your prognosis, the hope in Christ the King of Glory is sufficient for you. Hope given by him works together to give us confidence, joy, peace, power, and love. That is a true gift!
“There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.” Proverbs 23:18
