The Mountain Ahead Requires a Fresh Anointing –  God is More!

“Let us become more aware of Your presence.”

That was the worship lyric being sung when the Lord began to stir something deep within my spirit. I heard:

“You are coming into a new season. Are you ready? Have you prepared the ground of your heart? Some old things have to go. Are you ready to let go and enter into the joy of My presence? Are you ready? The old methods will not climb this mountain. You will need a fresh anointing… a new resolve. You will need others to walk with you, keeping one another focused on the prize. The prize is the joy of My presence… aside from the weekend.

How much do you hunger after Me? What is worship to you? It is in everything you do, think, and imagine.

My worshipers, do not be left behind. Enter into the deeper waters. Yes, there will always be more.

This season, be more aware of My presence. Be bold and courageous, and let your personal faith explode into your life. My light will guide you. Are you ready? There is still time.”

As those words settled over me, I could not help but think about Isaiah.

Isaiah was already considered a righteous man. He was already a prophet. Yet in Isaiah 6, when he finally saw the Lord seated upon His throne, high and lifted up, with the seraphim crying, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of His glory,” everything changed. He did not say, “Look how faithful I have been.” He did not compare himself to others and concluded he was doing pretty well.

No. When Isaiah saw God, he finally saw himself.  “Woe is me! For I am ruined!” (Isaiah 6:5)
The holiness of God shattered every comparison he had ever made.  And perhaps that is the problem for many of us.

We compare ourselves to other people. We compare ourselves to the worst of society. We compare ourselves to our neighbors, our coworkers, even other believers. Yet the moment we stand in the light of God’s holiness, all human comparisons collapse. The closer we get to Him, the more we realize that everything good in us came from Him.

Pastor Daryl Black preached a message called “God Is More.” That phrase has echoed in my heart ever since.   God is more than we imagine.

More holy…More loving…More patient…More merciful…More powerful…More worthy.
The waters are deeper than we think…The mountain is higher than we realize.
And the invitation is still being extended.

“Come deeper.”  “Go Higher”.

That is what Isaiah discovered.  That is also what we see in the parable of the talents. The master entrusted gifts according to each servant’s ability. Ten talents. Five talents. One talent.

Different gifts…Different assignments…Same expectation.
Use what I have given you for My glory… Every gift is God’s grace in disguise.
Every talent is on loan from Heaven… Every ability points back to the One who gave it.
Some of us are still asking, “Who am I, Lord?”

But perhaps the better question is, “What have You entrusted to me, Lord?”
Because one day we will stand before Him and answer that question.

What did you do with the talent that I gave you?

Did you bury it?…Did you compare yourself to others?
Did you spend your life looking at everyone else’s assignments?
Or did you invest what I placed in your hands?

Isaiah did not remain in the temple after he was cleansed. The moment he experienced God’s mercy, he heard God’s call.

“Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”  And Isaiah answered, “Here am I. Send me!” (Isaiah 6:8)
Notice that God did not reveal the mission before revealing Himself.

The encounter came first….The assignment came second.
The presence preceded the purpose.
And I believe that is exactly where many of us stand today.

God is preparing His people for a new season. But the old methods will not climb this mountain. Casual Christianity will not climb this mountain. Weekend-only faith will not climb this mountain. A shallow awareness of God will not climb this mountain.

We will need a fresh anointing….We will need a fresh hunger….We will need each other….
Most of all, we will need a fresh vision of who God really is.

The same question still echoes from Heaven.

“Are you ready?”…Not ready for a conference….Not ready for another church service.
Not ready for more information….Ready for more of Him.

Ready to enter deeper waters.   Ready to become more aware of His presence on Monday morning as much as Sunday morning.
Ready to let personal faith explode into everyday life.
Ready to stop settling for the shoreline when He is calling us into the depths.

Because once you truly see His holiness, His mercy, His greatness, and His love, He will ruin you for lesser things.
And perhaps that is exactly the point….The old season is ending.
The deeper waters are waiting….The mountain stands before us.

His light will guide us….And the Spirit of God is still asking:

“Are you ready?…There is still time.”

“My dear friends, I don’t believe God’s greatest question for us in this season is, ‘What are you going to do for Me?’ I believe His question is, ‘How much of Me do you really want?’ Because when Isaiah saw Him, everything changed. When we see Him rightly, everything changes. The deeper waters are not about becoming more religious. They are about becoming more aware of His presence. The mountain ahead will not be climbed by human effort, but by people who have seen the Lord high and lifted up and can no longer settle for the shallow end of faith. Are you ready? There is still time.”

I promise:  A fresh vision of the holiness and nearness of God will prepare each of you for the season ahead.
Please pray for Dyan, who goes into surgery on Thursday.

“What part of this hit home for you this morning? What are you carrying today that needs prayer?  If you’d like, send me a prayer request here. Let’s invite the Holy Spirit in together.  (where two are gathered.) You are not walking alone.  Just hit reply…
I read every response.”
