The Quiet Voice of God

Sunday morning a women came for prayer, she is having cancer surgery in the morning. Her name is Coleen, please pray for complete healing and success! I have been meditating for a few days now on the quiet voice of God, especially in extreme trials. We know the hand of God…We know the spirit of God is alway near us. We know that because his word says that and God cannot lie. We know this because God never changes. We know this because of the price he paid to be with us again for eternity. He said he leads us by still waters… even when we are in the valley of the shadow of death.

The phrase “still small voice” is found in 1 Kings 19:11-13. Modern translations have it as “the sound of a low whisper” (ESV), “a gentle whisper” (NIV, NLT), “a soft whisper” (CSB), or “the sound of a gentle blowing” (NASB). But the King James reads thus:

“And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord. And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said,

What doest thou here, Elijah?”

(1 Kings 19:11-13).

God knew what the depressed and discouraged Elijah needed. He needed a personal encounter with God. Perhaps that is what you need today. Like many others, Elijah probably only looked for God in dramatic manifestations. Certainly, God sometimes appears in such ways, but He often appears in less dramatic surroundings.

But in our minds, the storm is so loud, the potential result so dismal we want a loud voice…a clear sign, that we will be ok. What we really want is for THIS to be over. This same lesson has to be learned over and over by us all: let us repeat it, ‘Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith the Lord.’ After the fire …a still small voice: This final phenomenon was a marked contrast to the previous manifestations. God actually met Elijah in the quiet whisper of a voice, instead of the earth-shaking phenomenon that had just gone before. What is it you are looking for?

The right hand of God is used 166 times in the Bible. It speaks of God’s power Ps 89:13

Protection. Ps 16:8 and Is 41:13

God’s promises Ps 16:11

God’s saving power Ps 60:5 and 108:6

It’s a symbol of victory Ps 18:35. Is 41:10

It says, Jesus rules at God’s right hand Rom 8:34. Acts 2:33

It signifies a place of protection for christians Rev 1:20

His is the hand of authority. In Is 41:13 he inspired Isaiah to write.

“For I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.”

His is the hand that steadies you. Calms you, and leads you along still waters. The right hand that lifts you up and gives you courage and comforts us when we fail or fall. He speaks to us in a quiet still voice of both peace and patience and power to save us from the storm. A voice anchored in humility and honor to every son and daughter. A king so rich and lowly of heart he came to lead a world as a servant king to gather up all the souls

lost by their pride and rebelliousness.

A quiet hand of calmness and peace no matter the weight of our cross.

He quieted the storm on the sea of Galilee… he spoke and the howling wind quieted to a whisper. He carried the cross of the world to bring the quiet reign of his presence to change the world. .

His quiet voice took the sword of anger from our hands and hearts that we might be his sons and daughters of light and life. The quiet sovereign hand of the Almighty himself holds you right where you are. Rest is His truth of peace… In his promise to be there with you through your storm.

He carried the cross of the world to bring the quiet reign of his presence to change the world to give us both hope and salvation. The quiet sovereign hand of the Almighty himself holds you right where you are. Rest is His truth of peace… In his promise to be there with you through your storm. His word is His voice…Lose yourself in His promises!
