Update on Pastor Dale Brooks Cancer. A Moment of Truth!
Pastor Dale and Mama Kaye have been waiting for a good report concerning Pastor’s cancer. Most would be waiting to know how much time they may have left. “But God”! Pastor Dale preached a message on that decades ago that I still remember. When we have done all we can do…”But God”. I can hear him preaching about his last cancer. Satan you intended harm to me…BUT GOD… turned it around for my good. Genesis 50:20
“But God”, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ — by grace, you have been saved. (Ephesians 2:4–5)
I do not believe there are two more hopeful words that we could speak.
We dry-boned children of wrath: “live” (Ezekiel 37:5)! “But God”
Pastor Dale would tell you that those two words…BUT GOD” tells us that we are only saved by God’s grace. All by His grace. The pastor knows that everything, that has happened from his birth to his death will work for your/his good. Everything! Romans 8:28
So he and Mama Kaye have waited for months to hear the results of all these chemo and specialty treatments and this report came Friday afternoon. Here is the actual quote from Mama Kaye”
“Dale’s tests/Pet Scan was the best ever today. Blood work was good, and the scan showed that the tumor behind the knee was completely gone and the ones in the neck area, chest, and groin were significantly smaller. The doctor was very encouraging and feels he has made great progress. He will continue on the oral medication, Revilmid, and a chemo infusion every other month for the next year, she wants full remission just like we do.
Thank you for all the love and prayers. We are rejoicing!!
I want to thank you on behalf of Pastor Dale and Kaye. Thank you for your faithful prayers and your loving support. Please don’t stop as we are praying for you too.
I sat in the temporary sanctuary this morning of the new Grace Clearwater campus church (#7) that is part of Pastor Brook’s legacy. (For those who don’t know, Pastor Dale hired Pastor Craig Altman and his wife Debbie to be his youth pastor, some 35 or so years ago. 10 or so years later, a young pastor was sent out to start a new work. Grace Family Church.)
As I sat quietly amid the rush of preparations and listened to the worship band as they prepared themselves for the service. The Lord gave me a word of encouragement for my Pastor -Dale Brooks.
“I told him to build it and they will come … and they are still coming. I’ve counted your days my faithful servant and I am not done with you yet. I have made thee a special vessel molded by my own hands and purposes. Well done son! You have raised up many sons to carry on. Stand strong in the days ahead. Continue to celebrate my life in you. Continue to rejoice in the days and the nights. Your legacy continues as many are still watching and listening. Mine is a forever message of hope and your light is one I have placed on a hill for so many to watch and be encouraged by my message of love and acceptance.
For in the storm you held to the truth of my light and my word”.
At 76 years old…I am not done with you yet! Isn’t it awesome God doesn’t have a mandatory retirement age for being an Ambassador of Christ? The pastor will tell you life without Christ isn’t a life worth living.
“In the shadow of his hand hath he hid me, and made me a polished shaft: in his quiver hath he hid me” (Isaiah 49:2).
Do you think Father God has been leading Pastor through this valley? Or that He has hidden him in the shadow of his hand? And what testimony has he forged by this life-threatening event? A polished shaft? What could be finer than to have been refined and polished by God himself while all the while keeping him hidden from real harm in His personal quiver?
I would much rather Pastor Dale finish this lesson.
But after many years under his careful tutorage, I think I know.
Wherever you are today. Be at peace and know that He walks with you personally. Know that some flowers only bloom in the shade or shadows of life, and will not bloom in the sun. Be encouraged by this man of God who is living life large with his second bout with Cancer and he rests all his days on two words. “But God”.
“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence, there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” (Psalm 16:11)
